In the Minis , only one Expen was on
hand, that being Kawasaki Motor
Corporation rider Scott Brown. The
on ly class he was able to ride was the
Special Open 105cc Minis, in which he
went two for two in easy fashion . The
Intermediate Minis were all Yamaha
mounted - Cory Falter as he went two
for two over Michael Craig in the
stocks , and J immy Moon in the
Modifieds.
The 125cc motorcycle classes
produced some real surprieses with
first time Barona rider Don Turk (Suz)
grabbing ' the Stock Experts over
Bobby Vrhel (Yam ) and 1981 champ
Mitch Palmer (Suz) in a three-way tie breaker.

Schmidt returned to Barona after a
yea r layoff and was impressive in his
Modified Expert win over Palmer and
Vrhel.
In the "wee ones " competition , for
the first time in several years the 9-11
Minis were a healthy cl ass again as
1981 Junior Cycle champ Danny
Hembree (Yam) moved up from the
Junior Cycles. He went four for four in
9-11 Novices with a win over another
"m ove-u p" Tommy Clowers (Yam) in
the Stocks and over Jason Frieze (Yam)
in the Modifieds. Hembree also
popped back to the Junior Cycles to go
two for two in the 9-1 Stocks for an
incredible six for six day. Racing will
continue at Barona on a first and third
Sunday schdule throughout the 1982
year.
