PRODUCT EVALUATION MOTOCROSS P IVATEERSle e Super Contingency Program FOR YOU At Motocross Nationals Product Evaluation: HRP Rat Jak Bob Hannah has been on the National circuit this year testing the equipment he sells through Hannah Racing Products. He has been sporting a radical, rather spacey looking shoulder padl chest protector that HRP calls a Flak Jak. The FlakJak has just gone public. The pad/protector combo is assembled out of individual parts so you can get a Flak Jak in any combination of red, white, blue or yellow. An added plus is that if you sell your bike you can replace only the colored parts that don't match or repair any that are damaged . The time that Hannah spent checking these out has been well used . They offer some really unique features. The pads are supported at the waist by a resilient foam rubber and on the shoulders by a net harness . The design allows for a greater volume of a ir flow than any other padI chest protector system we have tried. They are light and fit most sizes easily and fasten with only two Vdcroil> fasterners , Movement when standing seems restricted, but when on the bike, all the necessary body movements were Protection easily accomplished. extends over nearly the complete trunk area . HRP claims the pads are only to help protect you from rocks , but they would seem to offer a premium of shoulder and body protection. We say "seems" because our tester was fortunate enough not to have the opportunity to test their crash protection, . Even if they are used only for roost protection, they are a good Investment. Today even a l25cc motocrosser can throw a substantial roost. We did have the opportunity to sample a 480 Honda's roost at close range and found the Flak Jak very protective. The FlakJak retails for $70 and can be ordered from your dealer or .from HRP , P.O. Box 2109, Sun Valley, 10 83353 . Their phone number is 2081726 ·4343. ......
