8 10se brothers
sweep Experts at

By Pam Hardin
PHOENIX , AZ , DEC . 27
It 's not unusual' for the Blose
brothers to win at Canyon , or
just about anywhere they go.
They put together four moto
wins to take both Expert classes .
Both 125 and 250cc Experts took off
in mota one with Chappy Blose
grabbing an early lead with three
other 250cc Pros; Bryan Hayes,
Robert King and Tim Richardson
following .
Chappy's older brother Bobby, In
the 125s, passed Mark Meredith to
take the lead.
Chappy lengthened his lead to eight
seconds by the sixth lap. Robert King
held a solid second , while Tim
Richardson and Jay Perkins battled it
out for third,
After taking th ird in mota one ,
Richardson was no-show for mota
number two. Jay Perkins pulled the
hole-shot , but Chappy was close
behind. Whenever Chappy is behind ,
you really have to crank it up to stay
ahead.
Getting squirrelly a t th e bottom of
Suicide Hill is, well , suicide. But you
won 't be dead for long if you really
want to win . and Chappy ob viousl y
did.
Aft er losing every possib le posit ion
and ending up last , Chappy got tired
of reading the back of jerseys and
methodically began to pass and too k
the lead.
After colliding in the first mota and
getting mediocore placings, Bryan

New Kawa saki ride r R ick
Rodgers began his debut in style
by sweeping both motos in the
250cc Pro class last Sunday a t
DeAnza Cycle Park .
When the gate dropped for the first
mota it was Rodgers who roosted into
th e lead. In second was Suzukimounted Eddie Michetti and in third
was Super Seer's Pat W eb er (Su z).
It wasn't long before Rodgers had
worked his way to a comfortable lead.
The real battle rook place over second
and third between Mich etti and
Weber. The upper-hand went to
Weber a fter he took over second on
the third go -around.
The fight continued for severallaps
wh ile Larry Lawrence (Yam) decided
to get in on some of the action ,
Lawrence managed to sn eak past both
Michetti and Weber by lap six , but the
duel over third was still in high gear.
Weber's advantage over Michetti
began to fade .
Toward the more's end, Michetti
slipped past Weber, taking over third
pos ition for good. When the checkered
flag appeared , Rodgers had a sizable
lead insuring an easy win . Lawrence
and Michetti followed in second and
thi rd .
It was Rodgers who rocketed into
th e lead in the second mota while Rick
Roark (Kaw), Chris Scott, on a 125cc
Suzuki, and Michetti followed.
Rodgers quickly extended his lead ,
lett ing th e rest of the pack battle over
positions .
Michetti began his upward drive by
passing both Scott and Roark by th e
th ird lap . But Roark nev er stopped
givi ng Michetti pressure .
T owa rds the end of th e mota Weber
dropped back to fourth giving
Michetti and Roark second and third.
At this point positions remained the
same. Rodgers went on to ta ke the win
ahead of Michetti and Roa rk .
