'\.1.'. l~ Montclair Yamaha's Greg Zitterkopf cruised to another viCtory tonight at Corona Raceway after compiling two moto wins just ahead of Moto·X Fox's Don Griewe (Hus). When the flag dropped for the first 250cc Pro class molO, it was Griewe who roosted into the lead with Zitter· ltopf and JOQn Mazzacane (Ka'w) trailing. It was clear that Zitterkopf wanted to take over the lead by not giving an inch to the leader. During the second lap, Griewe surrendered his lead and the eventual win to Zitterkopf. Mazzacane had to settle for third. Griewe, knowing he had to win the second moto to take first overall, ~gain jammed into the lead while being and pursued by Zitterkopf Mazzancane. Howeve, like the first moto, Zitterkopf managed to slip past . the leader on the second lap. From there on, the moto was a carbon copy of the first as Zitterkopf managed' to take the win followed by Griewe and Mazzacane. In 250cc lntermediate action, Suzuki pilot Jeff Clark grabbed the lead in the first moto pursued by Kevin Brooks (Yam), Rick Vanderham (Yam) and Jim Vermillion (Yam). As the early laps progressed Vander· ham began his charge by passing Brooks and engaging in a duel with Clark. Clark was able to hold off the aggressive riding style of Vanderham for a few laps, but on the fifth go· . around. Clark relinquished his top spot and win to Vanderham. Brooks held on to third. When the green flag drop~ for molO two. it was Clark agam who jumped into the lead with Vanderham . . . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -. .-----~.... Express Yourself hot on his tracks. Vermillion and Brooks followed in order. The battle for the lead was fierce. As the two riders entered their fifth lap, only one would make it to the sixth. Going over the la.st jump, both riders locked handlebars in mid·air. Vanderham went down hard while Clark went off the track completely out of shape. But the Suzuki rider managed to regain control quickly enough to continue. By the time Vanderham recovered he was already out of the race. Clark went on to win . the race and overall with Brooks and Mike Schenyder (Yam) to follow. .Vanderham managed to finish the race taking third overall. In the first moto, of the 125cc Beginner class. Tony Garcia (Kaw) had to work his way from a founh· place start to take over the lead With only two laps remaining in the race. The win went to Garcia with David Turk. Kenny Gerry (Yam) and Cliff Garcia (Suz) following. In moto two, Garcia had to battle it out with Gerry throughout the race, but the win went to Garcia. Second went to Gerry while third fell to Shawn Wilson (Yam). Dan Kosinski (Kaw) settled for founh. Wilson's 7·~ combo placed hin third overall. ~ e • ...-4 00 0') ...-4 ~ with a Cycle News banner' 0') M II) ..c S II) u Q 11). Results MINI BEG: 1. Chad Borneo (Kawl; 2. Brett Guyatt (Vom); 3.
