ada· Northern California· Northern Ne II\ORLD LEADER IN .# CASTOR LUBRICANTS ...-.lL~I.\\A----. 7' MAXIMASCORES FOUR NATIONAL mtES RONLECHIEN AMA&NMA NATIONAL CHAMPION ROBBIE BlAGG TWOAMA NATIONAL TITLES Klmo Ca.ey won the 2&Occ Expert c1e.. et Uvermore Valley Stadium. > •• Ron Lechien easily won the NMA's l00cc Stock second place. As it was, he came in fourth overall. The Old Timer dUll saw Gary Bonds (Hon) take the overall after a lelDi·heated battle with Jim Lamkin, a1Io on a Honda. Lamkin, I feel, would have put in a tougher ride, but the heat took its toll. The Portland·Van· couver area bas had its share of wann weather this llUlDlDer. This day was no 1_ than that. Hot. Jeff Cropper (Suz) was consistent enough to take the win in the U5cc Pro dUll, but not before a sterling battle with Mike McCormick (Yam) in the fll'lt moto. McCormick, looking as tough and fit as he bas alIaeuon, took a strong lead off the scratch and blew everyone away but Cropper. Jeff worked on McCormick until the eighth lap before he made the pUll. Three lape later, he won the moto with Mike right on his rear fender. Eric Hall, Yamaha support/LOP rider and a comer, had lady luck deal him a blow in this moto. Off the start, Eric was in the lead pack, he went down, and it was later determined that a cracked rib and punctured lung was the result. Eric's tough and wiD be back soon. Mark Gregson (Yamhill Yamaha) looked very good both motos. Mark is coming back onto his former pace fast. He finished a strong third overall. Watch it fel1aa; G~'s back. and Yamaha's got him. Discount Yamaha, that is. The second round for the U5cc Pros had a new scenario. Cropper ~t the hokshot this time, but McConmck was next to last in a field of 24. This would deter many riders, but Mike's a competitor. He worked his way to 11th by moto's end for a sixth overall. Cropper was on his way to wiring it before Rob Manning (Suz) pUlled and took the checkered. Cropper had a 1-5 day. Manning did a 4-1 for second. Ted Harry (Suz) just gets better. He worked both motos for a 6-5 day giving him fourth. The 250cc Pros came to the line. This c1aaa is always impressive. This time, it had an in-sbape·and·ready·for· the·Tram-USA wan Rick Burgett. In the fant moto Rick had handling prob· lems but still came in second. The last moto he won going away. Eric Eaton (Mai) is a good MXer, and he gave Burgett the battle a Nation· al dUll talent would give, Eaton got second overall. Kevin Janaen (Kaw) had a 5-5 for third overall. The Open dUll Pros had a good turnout. Burgett won the first moto leading the entire moto. Eaton had to work all the way from a ninth place position off the first lap to finish second, all the while pUling some impressive riden and equipment. Andrew Tudor (Mai) rode to a third overall. Tudor looked very fast and bas not memorized this track yet. Results PEE WEE 8: 1.
