SEPT. 4 Salinas Kawasaki-sponsored Doug Chan~Uer took top money honors tonight with a win in the 500cc Expert class and a second behind teamm.ate Keith Day in the 250cc Expert class at Hills Ferry Speedway's short track. ' Winkie Frei'tas started things off taking the 100cc Expert win in a runaway over Dean Vincelet and Steve Mayfield. Dion Clardy continued to look good in taking the 80cc Novice win. Jeremy Chisum and Shad Johnson had a fine \ battle in BOcc Junior trading ·the lead throughout with Chisum getting the advantage. Mikie Macedo was very impressive opening up a big advantage over the rest of the 80cc Experts and cruised to the victory on the Oilzall/ Macedo Const.lChampion Spark Plug/ Terry Sage YZ. Mayfield was seconE! wi~h Ronnie Hays a close third over Kurt Chandler. Chisum took his second win of the night in 100cc Junior, and Steve Mitchell rode his completely stock Can-Am to the 125cc Novice/Junior combined win. The first big bike win went to Rich Garcia who took the 250cc Novice win over Rick Frisk and hisJorgy Can-Am. Steve Fischer took over' the lead in 250cc Junior after early -leader P.J. Sanchez dropped out with engine trouble. Fischer took the win over Shaun Reyna with third going to Todd Beecher. Billy Scott grabbed the holeshot on his Oilzall/Knight Racing/Dave Birdtuned YZ250 over Day and Chandler and led the 250cc Experts to the halfway mark, but his tire started going away and Day slipped under him for the lead' and the win. Chandler made the pass for second with two laps remaining as all three had opened an advantage over Mike Inderbitzen and Aaron Hill. The final rundown was' Day, Chandler. Scott. Inderbitzen and Hill. The Open Novice win went to Brent Davis and Brian Dennis who looks a lot like J~ff Haney in not only his leath~rs but hiS style. He took the Open Juruor win. Ricky Cremona making a late charge for second. The Open Expert start was delayed fc;>r a moment as officials argued with Inderbitzen who was black-flagged for jumping the line. When they got straightened out, it was Chandler with a big holeshot, and it didn't take .Iong for Doug to open the lead up on the Salinas Kawasaki Suzuki 500. Chandler took the win by close to a straightaway ahead of David Boyles and his Spinetti's Honda 500; third went to Hill on the Del Callsen/Blendzall/ND Honda. Results 100 EX: 1. Wi.... _ ; 2. 0...
