AUG. 21 There wasn't much surprise when Malcolm Smith rider Eric Mac Cracken took his Yamaha to a I-I win in the 250cc Pro class at Corona. At the stan Rodney Brand took his Out &: In Burger Suzuki to an early lead with MacCracken closely behind and Keith Williamson (Yam) in third. Brand held onto his lead for three laps then Mac Cracken made his move by passing Brand through the stadium whoops to take the lead for good. The final moto saw MacCracken get the holeshot this time with Brand closely behind in second and Brian Fry (Suz) holding his own in third. Brand put the pressure on MacCracken for the first few laps but MacCracken's experience in the whoops paid off. enabling the Yamaha pilot to pull a comfonable lead over Brand for the win. The 250cc Intermediate class saw Pat Schreffler take his Circle City Honda to hard fought win with a 2-2 finish. Moto one saw Rusty Taflinge.r of Yamaha of Pomona take his Yamaha into the lead with Schreffler closely behind in second. Scott Conaway (Yam) in third and Mike Saul (Suz) in fourth. By the second lap Saul had moved up to third after Conaway fell and dropped back to seventh. In founh was Jeff Clark (Suz) and Brandon Sneiderwine (Kaw) followed in fifth. Up front Schreffler was really putting ·the pressure on Taflinger but to no avail as Taflinger was able to hold on to the lead until the end. Second place went to Clark while founh went to Sneiderwine. 28 The second moto holeshot went to Schreffler with Saul slipping into second and Cycle W01'ld's Brian Griewe (Suz) in third. By the third lap Saul had gotten past Schreffler for the lead. while Conaway had caught up to third after a poor Itan.
