could take about a dozen of them, shake thern up in a bag and have no idea who would come out first. That's how they ride. Today, Rick Bozarth (Suz) won both motos. Bob Cameron (Suz) finished 5-2 for second and Kevin HofenbredJ (Hon) was 'l-!! for third_ Jess Dirks (Suz) learned how tough they are (as if he didn't know) when he went from first to futh without making a major mistake. View MX By Jan Newman SANDY, OR, AUG. 16 54 Three new track sections at Mt. View were designed to slow the riders down a bit, but Jim Anderson and his followers failed to show much sign of slowing down. It was another in a long string of hot, dry days which allowed the track to dry quickly, so quickly that it became smooth, hard and fast. One new section just beyond the first turn was chopped right out of the brush and trees. This section did remain rough enough to slow most riders a little, but Anderson left it wide open and flyin~ here, too. The 250cc Pro class started the day with Anderson (Yam) screaming out in front wire to wire. A surprise in second was Eric Hall (Yam), not because of the position but it was the first time we've seen Eric on a 250. (His scoot was laid up so he borrowed one.) Rowdy Blasdell (Yam) and Kevin Jansen (Kaw) duelled for the third spot much of the moto before Jansen took over for good. Anderson repeated his performance the next time out. Blasdell held the second slot all the way this time while Jansen and Hall battled for third. Jansen again won out. Bob Plympton (Suz) made his debut in the class with a futh overall. Not a bad startl Anderson was back to devastate the 125cc Pro class. He was ftrSt to the comer and gone in front of Randy Crisman (Suz), Dave VanEpps (Suz) and Kevin White (Yam). Back a couple of spou, Rodney Keller (Suz) began charging through the pack like an enraged bull. Anderson was the only one who escaped him. VanEpps took Crisman for third at the halfway mark. Keller got the holeshot on the second moto. and as spectators stood in open mouthed amazement at the speed of both Anderson and Keller on the fast sections, Anderson left it wide open through the new rough section to take the lead for good. Keller chased him to the flag, and VanEpps was third again. Arne Hettman (Hon) went an easy I-I in Open Pro. Greg Rodgers (Mai) was second in the first 'moto and crashed to a DNF in the second. Lyle Schoppert held the Maico banner high with a second in the final race and second overall. We have a really competitive group of 125cc Intermedia te riders. You By Dorothy Langley DIXON, CA, AUG. 16 The spectators at Argyll Park not only got to watch some hot racing but were treated to a fine air show put on by the United States Air Force team, the Blue Angels. This acrobatic air team was performing at nearby Travis Air Force Base so MX fans got two shows for the price of one. On the ground level, Jerome Heiberger came from behind for the overall win in the Open Pro class. In the first moto, Dave Wood got the holeshot but Dave Coupe overtook him coming out of turn one. Heiberger then put the pressure on Wood and passed him on the futh lap. Heiberger started working on Coupe and put the power to it at the bowl on the last lap. To Heiberger's dismay, Coupe held it to the finish for first with Heiberger in second and Wood third. In the second moto, Wood got the holeshot again, but this time it was a different story as_Wood held the lead by seven seconds over the second place rider Coupe with Heiberger in third. On the fifth lap, exciting things started to happen. Heiberger put the gas to it and passed Coupe. Then he really powered it and passed Wood. Heiberger brought his Maico in for a first place finish with Coupe close behind. Wood had trouble with his back wheel but still fInished third. Randy Pockrandt held oli for fourth. Rod Smith took the overall win in the 125cc Pro class on his Suzuki. In the first moto, David Richards got the holeshot and led the first two laps. He ran into trouble somewhere in the back leaving it wide open for Smith for an easy win. Dana Wax ham came in second, and Allen Silhank came in third. In the second moto, Smith got the holeshot with Waxham in second and Pete Langley third. During the second lap, Langley's bike seized, and Heiberg-
