Challenge motoc:rwa. Over SOO ridns
drove from Texas, Kansas, Arkansas
and everywhere in Oklahoma. Doug
Domokos whee1ied his Kawaski around
the track twice during intermission
with cheering kids streaming after him
all the way. Spectacular, Doug! When
back in the tower, he told the crowd he
couldn't believe the turnout. "It's even
bigger than some of the Nationals'"
Recently, I was told that when Trey
Jonki (Kaw) fint started racing, he
was given a name. He would race on
everything resembling a bike and
would usually break or fall. Trey
"Tump·over" Jonki started off the eve·
ning's Expert races with the holeahot
in the fint UScc moto. Chris Swank
(Suz) was in second place, and Guy
Cooper (Kaw) followed in third place.
Randy Kinchbaum (Yam) was a crowd
pleaser with his performance. After
getting a bad start off the gate, slowed
up behind a six or seven cycle pileup in
the fint tum, Kirschbaum managed to
move up from ~6th to nth at the end
of the fint lap. He continued to pass
riden as the race progressed. On the
final lap, Swank passed Jonki for rust
place. In trying to get back around,
Jonki crashed and forfeited his second
place spot to Cooper. Swank croued
the checken firat, Cooper second, Jonki
third, Kirschbaum fourth.
The second moto, Anthony Goss·
man (Yam), a fint·year Expert,
grabbed the holeahot. Next came
Swank, JoOO and Kirschbaum. After
a quick shuffle, Kirschbaum moved
into the lead, Swank was second and
Jonki third. The race finished in that
order.
Kirk Spencer (Yam). one of the
beuer-known Texas racen, got the
holeshot the first ~SOcc Expert race.
Alvin Myen (Yam) followed close behind, and "Tump-over" Jonki (Kaw)
rode third. Myen went down, forcing
him to struggle to move back up as a
contender. Spencer won the moto with
a commanding lead over Jorski. Kansasbased Willie Brumitt (Suz) crossed the
finish third, and Kirschbaum (Yam)
moved from a middle-of· the· pack
stan to finish fourth.
Jorski jumped into the lead in the
second moto with Spencer chasing.
Next rode Kirschbaum, being pursued
by Mark Dennison (Suz), Brumitt and
Scott Cook (Suz). Brumitt then Cook
got around Dennison while Kinchbaum
moved up, passed Spencer and
finished second. Spencer got third,
Brumitt fourth, Cook fifth.
Jorski again kept his crown in the
Open Expert race, winning I-I.
Spencer (Yam) was second out of the
gate the fint molO, but couldn't hold
back a determined Kirschbaum who
got by and then chased Jonki through
to the checkers with Spencer placing
third. Darren Rhoten (Suz), displaying
some fast and flashy riding, got
fourth. The second race. Spencer took
a fall during the fint lap, and it was
again Jonlti winning, Kirschbaum
claiming second, Rhoten third, and
Rod Reim fourth.

Mcintyre triples at
Stahmann Farms
MX
-By Charlemane Payne
LAS CRUCES, NM,JULY 19
Maby Mcintyre stole the show at
Stahmann Fanns' motocross with
five out of six first place finishes
in the 125, 250 and Open Expert
c1aslIes. But the Yamaha support rider
probably provided the DIOIt thrilla ~y
mg catch-up in the one moto he didn't
win, the first heat of the 12Sec race.
Logston
Suzuki-mounted Scott
wasted no time getting of the starting
gate for a holeahot with Michael
Mcintyre scrambling hot on his trail
for a quick paa on the fint lap to lead
the entire race while big brother Maby,
starting last, pushed through the other
riders like grua through concrete not lOOn enough to pus Scott or Michael
who took fint. Maby, stung by his performance in that first race of the day,
went on to win all five of the other
Expert heats.
Tracy Mcintyre grabbed the ~5Occ
holeshot but was soon passed by Maby
who established a hefty lead as Tracy
battled for second with Joel Craig who
finished third. Tables were turned in
the next moto where Tracy took an
early spill on a downhill berm allowing
hill twin, Michael, 10 sail by for a second
overall.
But racing in the I~5cc Amateur
c1asa also took place over second place
when Kirk Kuester made the giant step
011 the gate for an ellentiaUy undisputed
lead forcing spectator eyes to zero in
on a breathleaa battle between Kenny
Butta and EIvie Addington. They clashed to give the crowd a lesson in the an
of passing and being pUlled through
sandy berms and sandier uphills with
Kenny edj(ing a second and Elvie having to settfe for third.
