Brad Lackey taIied a 6-12. 500cc World Championship MX Series: Round nine Malherbe wins but Noyce still leads By Bob Gould LICHTENVOORDE, HOLLAND,JULY 19 18 The ninth round of the 500cc MX World Championship took place in Lichtenvoorde, Holland, and 19,000 spectators turned up to see the continuing battle between Graham Noyce and Andre Malherbe for the World Title. With just seven points separating the Honda duo, one mistake could change the whole outlook on the champion' ship. When the gate dropped at 1:30 p.m., Yamaha's Arne Lindfors roundĀ· ed the arena ahead of the pack. JeanĀ· Jacques Bruno, Gerrit Wolsink, Noyce and Malherbe. were all tightly bunched. as they disappeared into the woods for the first time. As they came around to complete lap one, Lindfors was barely holding off Bruno; next to appear over the double jump was Wolsink and Noyce. Malherbe came around in fifth but was already losing contact with the first four. Lindfors took a dive after two laps.
