Holt hauls at CRC nIght mInI MX Only from ROCKY By Lee Taylor VALENCIA, CA,JULY 10 John Keefer, aboard a Yamaha for "Eddie and Me," took the 83cc Stock 12 and over racers by storm at the CRC Friday night mini MX. He found Tom Holt riding a shotgun as a mad duel for the lead went down between them. Bambino Tapia, riding for his mom and dad, went absolutely wild and was on the gas throughout the moto, out to un· settle the leaders. A wheel·to·wheel duel went down between Glenn Gordy, riding a Yamaha for his aunt, and Richard Botes, the 'Trojan Truck" entry, in fourth. By the end of the moto, Keefer sai1ed aCl'Ollll in command, Holt followed a close second, with Tapia rounding out the top three. When their bikes roared off the line for the second round of action, Holt was in front, out to unseat Keefer. Keefer, close in second was keeping his eye out for Tapia, burning up the track and running third. Nancy An· drews, aboard a Suzuki for her parents, was busy keeping Gordy at bay. When the finish line loomed into sight, it was Holt leading the way and .taking home top honors for the night. Keefer followed a close second, good enough for second overall gold with Tapia taking home third overall honors for the class. When the 60cc Stock racers charged off the grid, their leader was Frank Buck, aboard a Yamaha and smoking! Alvin Matthews of the famed Matthew Brothers Racing Team was there in second and fighting to keer. Chris Lara and Alan Pierce off his tad. Through. out the moto, these three were glued to each other's fenders, and moto's end found Matthews leading them aCTOlll the line, Pierce in IeCODd and Buck ~~~'; : r. 6 III , I I J" r 6 I;' "RED DOT" WINNERS KEVIN STEVENS GREG MAYO Florida Enduro Champion 125cc New England Motocross Champion JACK PENTON CURT McCUISTION 175cc ISDE Qualifier Champion 125cc & 250cc L.A.
