Winkie Freitas got stuck in traffic and spent almost the whole distance dispatching Knight, then Bricker and getting by Fresno rider Craig Howard, a National Mini winner from last season. He then set sail for the fast fleeing Macedo, but to no avail. The 250cc Expert show wasn't, with lou of battles both on and off the track. A first lap crash led to a false stan and some bad feelings and finally a big fight. After the altercation was removed, the race saw Dave Boyles penevere through it all for the win with Pat Seigle back to racing for a good second over Aaron Hill (he did double duty tonight, pitching a few innings earlier) and Jon Eichelbaugh. Saturday night ran very smoothly with a significantly smaller number of bodies around. Shad Johnson was the no contest winner over Jon Noyer in the 80cc Novice/Junior main. Mike Macedo did much the same in 80cc Expen with Tom Knight doing the off the line leading with Kevin Bricker. Bricker bit the dust in a close comer call but looks to be ready to break into the winner's circle real500n. Woody Rogen continued to get ready for a Junior plate, winning the 125-200cc Novice/Junior show with ease while Ricky Frisk was the first time recipient of a trophy with the coveted number one in taking 250cc Novice in fine style. . Dave Boyles and the Spinetti Honda rode off with 250cc Expen after Joe Knight got off between grandstanding down the back chute and trying to catch Boyles. Bill Arbogast held the second spot for the rest of the distance in good style holding off the hard charge by Aaron Hill. Jeff Manins had his day winning the 560-500cc Novice show while Chris Carr found himself the recipient of a free ride on Mike Macedo's TT500 after the 500cc Expert class slimmed quite a bit. Wit,h only a wann-up lap for practice, the 14'year-old, IO-time National champ took a third in the heat to a bit 560-500cc Junior main event win over Debbie Rocha and Brian Pedro. He now needs only one point to join the Expert crew. All that and close to going back to the Nationals to add a few more trophies to the collection. Dave Boyles and Mike Hayward did the 500cc Expen run as a trophy dash with Hayward playing catch up for the distance. Boyles is obviously getting ready to take on the Eastern establish· ment in short order. His fourth place standing in tbe nation's pro Novice standings is significant with only the top 10 riders getting the big invite to the Houston Astrodome Nationals next February.
