As the gate dropped for the stan of the fim round, the hard·charging Taft made it look easy as he put his Yamaha out front with Rawson in hot pursuit. Rawson was on Taft's back the entire race, but as the checkered nag dropped it was Taft taking the win. Round two again saw Taft with the lead followed by Rawson. With the white nag out, Rawson made his move on Taft only to take a corner too wide and go down, leaving Taft to take home the first place cash. Rawson had to settle for second with third going to BG Oil Honda rider David Lynch. In the Open Pro race the first moto lead went to Foothill Yamaha's Joe Root with Kern Sponcycle Husky rider Greg Tor~n an second 'and Doug Taft holding down third. Torgerson managed to get by Root to take the motowin. Round two again found Root in the lead, and this time he was able to hold off Torgerson to take the second moto win and first place money. Some riders may think that they have it made when they are leading, but that is when they have to exercise smooth riding and not get too careless. David Chambers won the first moto of the 8!lcc Stock 9·11 race, but his lead in the final moto ended when he spun his Kawasaki on a sweeper and hit the ground. Pro-T.rac Trailers rider Lance Homer took over the lead but some· thing similar happened to him as he spun out and let Alan Pierce take ove the lead. Homer still placed secon ahead of Chambers.
