Despite the stamina sapping sections
and t~e discomfort of being wet and
muddy for seven houn there was still
some humor left in a few of the riden.
Eddy Lejeune. who was leading the
point standings going into the event,
clipped a tree in a section sending him
tumbling. The oblerver' asked his
score. "Clean,'" said Lejeune with a
smile. He got a five.
The National class riders gOt are·
prieve from the two toughest sections
on the course·· .«tions six and eight·
. to ride a total of 12 sections on each
of three loops. Winner Curt Comer
lost n points in his National winning
ride and 105 in-the International class
.. the 50 mark difference was tallied
from six tries and six failures in those
International'c1ass only sections.
Don Sweet. who virtually owns the
New England trials scene after nine
straight titles. placed second with a
102 mark' loss. Sweet was Montesa
mounted as was Comer.
The event was ably handled by
organizer Carl Peters and the
metnben of the ~huyler County M.C.
and the AMA District 4 Trials
Committee.
