Mark Key in for third over Joe Knight
and Kim JOigeJ~ after Billy Arbogast
slipped wide off the groove.
Chris Carr came up with the magic
combination in the 250ccJunior main
taking a great win over much-improved
Greg Gary, Mike Cronk on an old
Power Dyne Vehicle and AI Rudy on
the Rudy Arco special. Danny Mc·
Donnell survived the 250cc Novice
class the best for that win.
In the lighterweight c1uses, it was
Dwight Linch the 200cc Novice
winner, MarY Dunham taking the
125cc Junior class and Joe Parker first
in 125cc Novice over Troy Watts.
Mini bike mains in the late night
aren't the hot set-up, but the kids
propped their eyelids up and went at it
with the usual enthusiasm. Winkie
Freitas won 100cc Expert with little
problem taking Kelly Fischer to second·
while Ted Taylor continued his domination of 80ccJunior, Jon Noyer doing
likewise in 80cc Novice.
Mike Macedo continues to dazzle
the assembled 80cc Experts when he
wants, taking a good win tonight
despite the hard charges of Freitas.
Tommy Knight of the younger genera·
tion came in third for valuable Black
Plate mini points.

500 EX: 1. Mark Key lVoml; 2. IWoo Hil (Hon); 3.
(Yam). McConn took the flag just
ahead of Smith.
The second time out saw Schlag
right behind Smith, breathing down
his neck, wanting that lead spot badly.
Schlag lost a chain and a great deal of
time putting it back on, only to get
back into the race and crash. Wosick
had a bad start but came from midpack to second in the first half of the
race, and spent the second half trying
to convince Smith to trade. Smith
hung in there, barely making it across
the fmish line ahead of Wosick but still
second to him for the overall payback.
George McNamara (Yam), with a
sixth and a fourth, copped third overall
money.
Wosick and Schlag went at it again
in the Open class. Each had a win, but
Schlag's third bested Wosick's fourth
in opposing motos to give him the top
cash. Dean Wiggins (Mai) was up
there close enough both times to g~t
the third-place money.
This event was the final of a District
36-sponsored series of MX races for
Old Timers and Vets. High point
trophies were given to the top three
riders in each of the Novice, Junior
and Expert cluses. Competitors were
scored on the best three of four different
races at widely scattered northern California track locations.
The Annual Awards Banquet,
funded in part by this race, will be
held in December. It seems a safe bet
that all the riders who cashed in this
time will be among the top 20 motocross riders who will be honored along
with top riders in short track, cross
country, enduro, etc.
