Hamby also took fint place honon for the second w~k in a .row in the Open Amateur class with Ken Duncan in secq,nd and Tom Lepo placing third. The Mini class has b~n exciting this season - a little too exciting for Rob Ferrell, who broke his ann in last w~k's action, but was at the track to cheer on the rest of the riden this w~k. Lowell Thompson placed fint, Joey Kopp was second, and Tim Gewecke got third. Huetter Speedway will be running every Thursday evening, weather permitting, and more information can be obtained by calling 208/765-5005. SANCTIONED CIt> PRO RACES SAME WEEKEND . Preston, Wosick, Schlag pummel D·36 benefit MX HARDIN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS Michael Preston (Suz), Larry Wosick (Suz) and Joey Schlag (KTM) topped the Expert cl~ at the District 36 Benefit MX at Sand HiU Ranch. District officials put on this event each year as a fund raiser for an awards banquet to honor the top riden in each category. There was a good turnout of participants in spite of hot, dry winds doing to the Sand Hill course just what the name implies. Although Preston's starts in both 125cc motos were not what you could call holeshots, he was close enough to work up to lleCond·running quickly in each. Bryan Wargo (Yam) took the lead away from Scott Rebuck (Suz) by the end of the fint lap of moto one and held it for most of the race. With Preston hot on his ~Is, Wargo felt the pressure and blew a tight tum, going down. Wargo became the chaser and Preston the chasee, and the finish went down in that order. Rodney Smith (Suz), looking especially good lately, bested Rebuck for third after some hot racing for that spot. Smith came off the gate out front for the second moto, but a run of bad luck put him at the back of the pack of 50 riders. Wargo led for a while, with the U.S. SuZuki rider, Preston, sticking to him like glue. Again, Wargo went down, and Preston took over. Wargo got going in time to hold OIl to the second, but half a mile behind Preston. This time Allen Silhanek (Yam) got third, and Rebuck again wasfounh. Another Suzuki·sponsored victory was Wosick's overall win in the 250cc class. .He really had to work for it. KTM rider Joey Schlag, one of the District's best, gave Wosick a run for the money in the fint moto. For a while it was a real cliff hanger, with the dynamic duo swapping the lead until Schlag got off and didn't have time enough for the catch·up game. Attention was divened to some heavy racing going on behind Schlag in a duel for third betw~n Rod Smith and Shawn McConn ..... 00 ..... 0') KENTON, OHIO CLASSES 85 (7-11).85 (12-14), 100 (12-15). 125 (12-151. 100. 125.200.250.360.500.750 Anv daM with ktllhan 10 p~of'"lri", will run with nll'.t wmfNlihlt' d ..", SEND FOR ENTRIES: pAUL SCHLEGEL 1390 GAGE TOLEDO.
