Shane Hawley on the Frog House Weslake led wire to wire to record his fint IMS Handicap victory of the season. Hawley took the lead on the start from fellow lO·yard·line starter Moose Kennedy, also aboard a Weslake. Gary Ford took the second spot from Kennedy on lap two. Ford put the pressure on Hawley but was unable to catch the high·flying youngster. Kennedy did a fine job of holding off Dubb Ferrell over the final three laps for third. Ferrell tried the inside groove, but Kennedy was there to shut the door at every corner. Following Hawley, Ford, Kennedy and Ferrell were Jim Fishback and Steve Lucero. Ron Blanton, from the zero, led the entire distance to record the victory in the Second Division main. Blanton got the lead at the gate over Craig DePhillippi and Andy Northrup. Rob Pfetzing, coming from the 30, immediately started his .usual ride through the pack and took the number three spot from Northrup at the end of lap three. Pfetzing then took DePhillippi in turn two on the final lap for second. The chase was on with Pfetzing eating up the space between himself and leader Blanton down the back chute. Pfeuing caught the leader in turn three and slid inside him in the final corner. Coming down the front chute, Pfetzing pulled alongside Blanton but ran out of time, coming up a half wheel short for the' second week in a row at starter Sid Sutton's che<:kered. DePhillippi ended up third over Jim Lawson, Northrup and Don Bovee. Mike Mazzacane passed early leader Jay Bowen at the end of the fiTSt lap and went on to score an impressive victory in the Division Three main. Chris Hedge took the number two spot from Rick Miller on lap three with Miller then getting into a war with Bowen for third on the final lap. Miller came off the final corner quicker to beat Bowen for third. For the record, it was Mazzacane for the victory followed by Hedge, Miller, Bowen, Bentley, Barrett and Margo King. Fourteen·year·old Jim Busby took the lead from little brother Dave on the final lap to record the victory in th Junior Speedway main. Dave Busby managed to hang on for second followed by Jordan Duncan, northern' California's Steve Miller, Greg Hancock and Cameron Evans. John Sandona fmished second in the Match Race to his girlfriend Margo King. Margo only had to go four laps while Sandona had to run five. It ended up close with Margo taking the victory by five bike lengths. The loss was a damaging one for Sandona who will be washing dishes for the next two weeks and will have to treat King like a queen. Bast came into the night leading the IMS points with 59. Christian and Dave DeTemple were tied for second with 45 J.2. Bruce Penhall was fourth with 40 with .Lance King fifth with ~J.2. Results DonBo_. THIRD DIV: 1. Mi~e _ ; 2. Chris Hedge; 3.
