In the final moto Pilato got nailed
at the stan and ended up with a slash
above his left eye. So Frank was out of
it and at the same time Schmitz was
having his share of trouble. Steve had
to work his way up past Dave Hamada.
He was then in second place behind
Craig Westergaard and it was a battle
for the lead. As the two riden made
the final tum they gasRd it towards
the fmish line and it was a tOlS up. The
officials gave the win to Westergaard
but Schmitz won the best money with a
1·2 score. Shelton landed the second
place money in front of Dave
Hamada. ROIl Maeda and Glenn
Page. Westergaard had a poor first
moto finish so he placed sixth overall.
