Interesting test of the day was the running of two separate traw, both staning off of the same gate. What could have been a confusing situation appeared to run very efficiently. The only problem experi· enced was a late start due to someone running off with all the trad marlr.ing materials the day before the race. A full gate of I25cc PI'OlI blasted off the start of the fint moto with Suzulr.i rider Mike Preston grabbing the lead and easily winning the flJ'st moto. Tim Yeat (Yam) and Kawasalr.i suppon rider Jack Banon fought for the fint two laps for second place with Yeat coming out on top. The second moto found Preston off to a bad stan, but by the third lap, he worked his way into the lead for a convincing first overall for the day. Yeat again followed with a second but this time had to battle with Mike Whalen (Yam) until the second to last lap before taking the position. Suzulr.is scored again in the 250cc Pro class as Larry Wosick ran away with both motos leaving the other 24 riden to battle for second. Yamaha rider Shawn McConn worked his way out of the pad to overcome a bad fint lap to take a second in the fint moto. In the second race, he held second from start to finish. Don Clark (Yam) and Brian Magee (Yam) rounded out the third and fourth place honon. Long time National star Bill Grossi broke the Suzuki sweep with very convincing wins in both motos of the Open Pro class on his 450 Husky. Neal Snarr (Yam) rode hard in the fint moto to take second, passing Maico rider Kelly Barry who followed in for third. In moto two, Dave Mythen (Mai) took second away from Kelly on the second lap and held it to the fmish with Barry again twng third. In Sportsmen action, Scott Keller (Hon) and Troy Barzoto (Suz) traded moto wins in the 125cc Intermediate class with Barazoto getting the overall. Brett Cahon on the L-C-R Yamaha tied Keller in overall poinu and was awarded second overall by beating Keller by one position in the second moto. With two back-to· back second placings, Earl Tanner (Yam) and Randy Okada (Mai) both took the overall wins in the 250 and Open Intermediate classes respectively. Today's event, also being the first race of the NMA/Yamaha GNC Qualifiers in Western Region number two produced a number of multi-class winners. Chris Plain (Yam) was the big winner with four finu. Expert Tyson Vohland continued his winning ways by twng hom three ftrsu. Chris Neal (Yam) was another three trophy winner. Shaun Wooten (Yam), Many Cooper (Suz), a!'d Obie Leff (Yam) took home seven firsts between them. Competition was fierce between all racen today, evidenced by the record number of protesu lodged - Z61 Not exactly the day you would want to be the referee, especially after being up aU Saturday night malting up time lost due to the stolen track marking materialsl ZAP Supenporu' next event at this facility will be the Olympic Medal Championship_on May 24 with the winnen receiving OLympic goldsilver-brome medals in addition to trophies. • Leathcl.l dorit haw to feel and fit like ilOn to weal like it. expctlcnct ~PRlT 00 c:J') f PRITT.
