': Canada- Northern California-Northern Nevada-Oregon-Washington-Idaho-Utah-AI Electric/Blue·Arc Dist.lND special took both the 250 and 500cc Expen clasllrS in roundy-round style. Two heab of 80cc Experts made for a great main event and it was the laid back style of Mike Macedo at the checkered. Mike ride his stock McGill Yamaha YZ without a lot of pressure, took a third in his heat, combined a pretty good stan with some fine style and won yet another main beating out a good come-from-behind effon by Winkie Freitas. Winkie had little trouble in the lOOcc Expm class riding the Dd Calsrn-prrpprd machine to a bi~ win ovrr Kun Chandler who was trymg to set up a different operation. Craig Johnson faded from the lead to third. Tony Mitchell took the lOOccJunior section with Matt Dequasi the Novice winner in a seldom srm class. Chris Carr, the National 100cc Amatrur Champion, brought out the 1980 winner and devastated the 125cc class getting a seldom sern chance to show off the coveted plate that he now owns for a total of 10. Think about 10 national title by the time you're 12, and he figure he can get another 10 just before he finishes school and gars Pro. P.J. Sanchez rode the wheels off the Bob's Garage KX250 in the 250cc Novice class with fonner mini whiner buddy Todd Bttcher right behind. Chad Felicio had some very different moves in keeping Chris Carr behind him in the 250cc Junior main. The name of the game for most of the races of the night was in the starb thanks to a narrow groove due to weather problems. Craig Scroggins had just the right touch for that getting the Glaze Ekctric/Bill Campbell/NDsparked Can-Am into the comer first and foremost for the night. Keith Day was all over him, but there was no way around. He had to settle for second with Aaron Hill buzzing his CR250R right behind for the best first-time Expm ride srm in thrsr pans in some time. Mark Lacasa was the new winner in the Open Novice show over almost old man Chris Ghione. Don Stommdl bested Kid Curry for the Junior win and Scroggins was once again the winner in the Open Expen show over Day with Dwayne McCaslin back in fonn for third. Results PEE WEE: 1. VERNON, WA, APR. 25 • _ •• lot • • CLUTCHTIME WIN? Blond (4); 4. R. _ l S I ; 5. R. win •• Clizbr took this event with a nine point loss, three poinb ahead of his nearest competitor, Mark Badgley. The season is only five evenu old, but the quiet young man from Bellingham has put together three top scores so far. The A and B riders enjoyed clear weather, moderate temperature! and a 72.5·mile course of two separate loops. The Skagit M.C. staged the evmt in the Walker Valley ORV area and ran the first 6.6 miles to Check One on ORV trails at 12 mph average. The speed was then upped to a 24 mph average on a long road section with checks, both of which were easily zeroed, at 13 and 17 miles. At 27.8 miles, the speed dropped to 12 mph and the riders were put into a tight, gnarly woods section of just less than four miles. At mile 31.0, extreme caution was advised as the riders en· countered an old deteriorated log bridge. Ridden correctly, it prrsrnted no probletns. Most of the good riders were able to hold their average into Check Four. They were then given a rrsrt and moved into the gas stop. The second loop was run at an 18 mph average and was much more challenging to the riders. Section five was the big point collector as it contained mud holes, log strewn trail and long, winding, Open bike uphills. Low point loss on this section was claimed by Clizbr and Mike Rossrr with fives. Srction six contained more chal1enging uphills, some railroad grade and more tight trail. Here some of the riders wue able to pick up some time - Clizbe, Church and Badgley all dropped four fewer points than at the last check. Mter Check Six, riders wel· corned easier trail and gravel road, and many were able to get back on time. The course headed back to the start .area and at mile 72.1 turned abruptly up the hillside and back into the woods for .4 miles of fresh cut, tight trail. One to two poinb were dropped by the top riders as they finished. As always, Mt. Baker M.C. fidded a large and strong contingent of riders. In addition to Clizbr in 250cc A, 125cc A, 200cc B, 200cc A, 250cc B, Open B and Open A were all won by MBMC members. They had no entries in the Masters or .l25cc B class. Top B rider was Mike Rossrr (200cc B) with a 15 point loss. Rossrr's ride was especially notable since he was victim of the change to daylight savings time and left the line well aftrr his start time and was four minutes late at the first check. Ken ViIlinrs followed his Rattlesnake win with another good finish to win the Mastrrs class with a 19 point loss and Gary Hoff (125cc B) once again posted low 125cc score with a 26 point .., ..
