HARLINGEN, TX, APR. 26 Despite several days of steady rain, race day at Arroyo MX Park dawned with nearly perfect track and weather conditions. A new section was added to an already challenging track. Billy Bruton (Hon) had to do some tough riding in the second moto of the 250/0pen Novice class to overcome a dead last stan. He patiently picked the other riders off and when the checkered came out, Bruton had back·to·back firsts. Hector Bautista (Hon) of Rio Braw, Mexico rode a fme race for second in the second moto, but not good enough to overcome a bad spill in the first round. Joe Gregory (Yam) edged out Mike Malley (Hon) for second. Larry Hughes, riding for Brownsville Sports Center, had more than his share of bad luck when his Hondas decided to take the day off. This story baa a happy ending thanks to Jaime Killion who loaned Hughes a 125 Yamaha, and loaned Joe Gregory a 250 Yamaha. When the gate dropped in the 125cc Expen class, it was Hughes and Killion side by side fight· ing for tbe lead. Killion finally took it and wouldn't give it back. Hughes still had anotber battle in store in the 250/0pen Expert class. Russell Rogers (Hus) roared out of tbe gate with the holeshot, but Hughes didn't want to play chase this time and took over the lead. Rogers didn't like following either and powered his 450 Husky back into the lead to stay. As an extra fature, an ATC/threewheeler race was held. If there is enough interest, this could become a regular class. Next races are scheduled for May 17. • Results MH: 1. _ -,,-IHanI; 2. Tommy _ _ IVomI. SR MiNt: 1. _ _ lSuzl; 2. Jeff _IKlwI; 3.
