Creager and Field flyatCMC Tumbleweed MX By Jerry Parson LEMOORE, CA, APR. 5 Lemoore Naval Air Station hosted the third round of the CMC Central Valley Motocross Series at Tumbleweed Park with Scott Creager taking the Open Junior win and Kevin Field taking the 125cc Junior win. The Open Juniors blasted off the line with John Williams using the power of his Can-Am to grab an early lead. Teny Evans (KTM) and John Hard (Mai) both dOled in fast on Williams' rear fender hoping to take the lead. Evans soon made his move and moved by Williams for the front spot. Scott Creager was moving rapidly through the pack and lOOn got Mike Kornwinder for founh position. Williams, unhappy with his second position, put the hammer down to regain his lead and leave Evans holding second. Creager pushed hard and slipped by Komwmder to tie down third. Williams went on to take the victory. Evans and Creager took second and third. 38 Danny Hill (Suz) got the jump in the second moto and began an early lead. Creager and Hard both pulled in tight behind Hill. Creager then made his . move and snatched away Hill's lead. Kornwinder moved in behind Hill to hold down third. Creager continued to stretch his lead to the checkered where he took the molO win and the overaI1 victory. Hill finished second with Kornwinder dropping lO founh. Evans finished third givmg him second overall. The 125cc Juniors got off the line with Kevin Field (Kaw) grabbing the lead. -Adam Vaughn (Yam) and Steven Day (Suz) both stayed glued to Field's back fender hoping to get by. Day lOOn overtook Vaughn before going di>wn,leavingVaughn to remain in second. Efron Mendoza (Kaw) worked his way into third where he stayed for the remainder of the race. Field kept his hard earned lead with Vaughn taking second. The second moto saw a repeat of the first with Field moving into the lead. Next Jeffers and Mendoza both put the pl'CSIUre on as they chased Field. Mendoza lOOn ovenook Jeffers as be rapidly picked up the pace and moved in on Field. Soon, Mendoza tnade his move on Field and wasted no time in building an untouchable lead. The track got rough and soon took its toU on Mendoza as he bit the big one, leaving him down three laps. OPEN PRO: 1. _ ~ M-.lSuzl. a..- _ DomannzOliver, Hardin snlne at AME Sprockets Park By Laura Richard BAKERSFIELD, CA, APR. 5 It was another day of racing put on by American Motocross Enterprises at Sprockets Park. The raeeIS were treated to a well prepared track run backwards which was quite a challenge for them. Round one of the 250cc Pro race saw Honda-mounted Allen Hopper pulling the holeahot and the lead followed by Kolbe Can-Am rider Steve Rawson and third place being filled by Yamaha rider Jtm Domann. Hopper was able to' hold off the strong charging Dotnann after he took over second from Rawson who had the wind knocked out of him as he took the jump a little out of shape. Dotnann finished the first moto with the win, Hopper taking second and third going to O'Neal Yatnahamoutned Doug Lawrence. As the gate dropped for the second round it was Barnett Tool and Eng.! Peres VHT Yamaha-mounted Steve Richard taking the holeshot and the lead with Dotnann in second and Rawson in third. Domann and Rawson were able to put the pass on Richard, taking over first and second. By the end of the moto, it was Domann taking the win with Rawson second and Lawrence third. The overall for the day went to Dotnann with Lawrence in second. Rawson third and Richard founh. In the Open Pro class, Bakersfield Yamaha rider Darren Oliver was able to put together back-to-back wins with another Yamaha rider, Mike Yafchak in second. Suzuki of Bakersfield rider Randy Hardin took back-to-back wins in the 125cc Pro race. Brian Kennedy rode his Honda to back-to-back wins in the 0P!'n Junior race with another Honda nder, Chris Gearhan, taking second. The 250cc Intermediate race saw Yamaha-mounted Bobby Kotanjian
