No~ Bob doesnt like to spoil a good time. But this thing had gone far
enough. He had spent the last twelve months getting back into shape
after trying to part the sea with a water-ski. And he had seen someone
not named Hannah walk offwith the coveted 250cc title for the first
time in recent histo~
Well, the drought is over: On April 5, the"Hurricane"blew into
Saddleback Park on his Keith McCarty-tuned Yamaha 250 and dampened the competitions spirits by taking the overall win in the
Coors/Yamaha 250 National.
Both motos were hotly contested, with Bob up to
his old tricks, plus a few new ones. When the dust had settled, the largest crowd in the park's historywas treated to one ofthe most familiar sights in l\1X racing:
Bob Hannah in the winners circle.
The win put Bob just a handful of
points behind the leader in the '81AMA
250 National ChampionshipSeries.
Although Bob admits he's still not
100%, he did serve notice to the rest
of the competition.
This years pimic has been
cancelled on account of Hurricane.
