Liles was right behind Dale the entire moto but couldn't seem to make hiI big move. On the last lap, Liles did not come around. His Kawasaki spit the chain and cost him the overall. Dale won the overall with a 51 score over Dymond's 4-2. Following Dymond were Han (2·4) and C. Swan (Suz). Two Pro Circuit Products Hwlty riders dominated the Open Pros. David Gerig and Troy Lee finished 1-2 in the small field of Open Pros. Maicomounted Scott Johnson led moto one for most of the 14 laps but a fine mid~r move on Johnson off th~ double Jumps gave the moto one VIctOry to Gerig. Johnson was second with Lee third. A bad stan by Johnson in moto two gave the two Husky riders the top two spots. Few changes occurred during the entire moto and Gerig went on to score a 1·1 total for the day and the overall win. Lee's 5-2 combination awarded him second overall with John· son malting up the top three. The 250cc Pro c1ua went to Liles. In moto one factory Suzuki rider Brian Myerscough put his Floater into the lead off the stan and no one could catch him. Following Myerscough c1oeeIy were Tim Lunde (Yam) and Liles. As Myerscough began to pull, Lunde and Liles battled like two cats for the entire 14 laps. Founh place was up for grabs between Greg Zitterkopf (Yam), Scott Johnson (Mai) and Craig Gormley (Yam). Myerscough ran away with the win and Liles couJd not gain any ground. Lunde was third, then came Zitterkopf, Johnson and Gormley. Moto two gave Liles the overall victory over Myerscough. They fought the entire race but Liles won the battle and the war. Liles Impresses CMC Saddleback crowd By Mike Klinger ORANGE, CA, MAR. 29 Billy Liles, the Kawasaki support rider out of Farbum, GA, gave Continental Moto-sports Club competiton a real run for their • 86 at Saddleback Park. Liles picked up a couple of moto wins in the 125 and !5Occ c1l1111eS, winning the latter 0ftI'a1I. In the Open Pro class, Huaqvama-mounted David Gerig continued hiI winDing waYll with a perfect 1C0re IIlOOe)' for the day that has put him in the points lead of the Open c1ua for the number one plate for 1981. In the 125cc Pro class, moto one saw Craig Dale (Suz) take the holesbot but by lap three Harley Hall (Suz) had taken the lead with Mickey Dymond (Yam) closing. Liles was running in the middle of the pack and as the laps counted down, he was malting his move to the front. At lap 10, Dymond took the helm with Hall and now Liles trailing.
