The first round of the 1981 500cc World Championship MX Series took place in Austria, and
after watching Saturday's practice session it
looked like there would be quite'a battlel Andre
Malherbe. Brad Lackey. Hahn
Carlqvist and Graham Noyce.
the top contenden for the series
title, all had the same unofficial
qualifying times.

For the fint time at the AUltrian
GP, there was sun and not snow. The
ground was very hard and many sharp
stones were to C&UIe many flat tires.
On Saturday, ~ Oatl were recorded,

punctures occurred.

with a rear flat tire. Two lapa later.
