., TEN YEARS E I AGO Motorcyclist/racer/actor Steve Mc Queen was interviewed about motor· cycling, racing and acting. One comment seemed to sum up his attitude: "The only good victories are private. Yamahamounted Gary Jones took the 250cc Expert bash over Grant and Rick ShlJ'ey, while the 125cc Expert class went to John R.ice (Puc). American Motocross Team captain Bryan Kenney placed fourth overall in an international motocross at Soucelles, France. Kenney led much of the second of three motos before suc· cumbing to heat and exhaustion and dropping back. The lead changed twice between the last comer and the checkered flag of the Expert main event at an Ascot Park half mile. At the flag, Jody Nicholas (Nor) won by a mere three inches or so over Rookie John Hatdey (Tri). Gary Scott broke three track records during the night, including a 22.56-second qualifying lap that was faster than any Expert had turned in during the year, and went on to win the Junior final. Scott Brelsford was top Novice. At Can-Am, we figure that With features like our snorkel that you can race it and never most people buy our air intake system, Ohlins maintain it. Both riders were tied at the end of three regulation loops, but Hood took the win via a better performance in the extra Expert sections run after the main body of the trial. CZ rider John DeSoto kept his Ascot motocross win streak alive in the 250cc Expert class, but a flat tire in the 500s gave the overall win to fellow CZ pilot Tim Hart. Bruce Baron was runner· up to DeSoto in the 250cc Experts and won the 125cc Expert class on a Rickman. Weekly News Not Monthly History ' .......... .. St " .... Little Harpeth Nat'l End.
