:eneda- Northern california-Northern Ne' JOIIC, the fonner number one cross country rider had a great but easy day winning by 10 minutes over Terry Sage and Steve Ferroni who both suffered tire problenu. Vanderpool had to gas twice but both were less than !l0 seconds each for gas, water and 00 0') vitamins. Rich Mathers was in ahead of Ed Martini and MX Pro Dave Wood for the top 10 spots overall. In the class break down, if there was to be one, Magoo won his, Douglas his, while Lash, Mathers and Martini were Open and Pena, Schlag, and Wood were 250cc second through fifth with Mitch Lenz in for the sixth 250cc class. Perhaps the best pan of the day was the last pan of the first lap where Magoo rode off the 90 degree downhill at full throttle, went wide around a post about 60 mph and instead of slowing for the biggie mud hole, flew high over the slime bucket and blasted an uphill so fast, he had the crowd arching their necks up past the crick in the neck level. On kid nearly lost his lip on the fence he jumped so fast. That was the only time Danny did that, but he sure had the crowd stand· ing by as if he would do it again.
