oathera Nevada•••ather. Call A classic example of this condition was the 250cc Intennediates where Mark Parkenon (Yam) took two founhs to victory over Scott Castaneda (2-7) and Steve Gilbert (10-2). First moto winner Bob Ramsey ended up 16th in the second moto, and second moto win· ner Mike Wilkinson got last in the mud in the first round for a 24th! The two most consistent winners in the Intennediates were Stuan Prior (Suz) in the 500cc class with a 1-5 effort, and Mark Howell (Yam) in division two of the 125cc class who also had a 1-5 effon for a squeaker over Ronnie Lechien (Yam) who came up with a 41 go. Surprisingly, the 125cc Juniors dis· played the only real consistency of the day as Mike Fisher (Suz) went two for two in division one, and Chris Freeman (Yam) did likewise in division two. Freeman (Yam) also had a good day in the 250cc Juniors where he scored a third place finish off a 6-2 effort. In the 500cc Juniors, Mike Zielinski (SUI) pulled off another. one of his come from behind victories, but not in the usual sense of doing it in the second moto. Rather, it came in the first round, where Zelinski looked to be a sure winner with a lap and a half to go only to fall and drop all the way to seventh. Zelinski charged back and grabbed fourth at the checker with the position proving to be the margin of victory as second place fmisher Harry Backer wound up with a 2-4 effort. The Minis were out in force as they have been throughout the 1981 GS Series, and due to the muddy conditions, they had their practice after the 125cc Intennediates' first motos. Once again it was all Yamaha-mounted Troy Blake in the Expert classes, as he just flat ran away from the competition in a four for four blast of the Stock and Modified divisions. With two more races in the series, Blake has it all but wrapped up for '81 and would look to be a favorite for the National Crown as well. The outstanding Mini Junior perfonnance was turned in by Yamahamounted Marcus Sabado who took both the Stock and Modified 12-16 classes. The 12-16 Intennediates provided Kawasaki with their only bright spots of the day as Jason Rincon took the Modifieds and then ran second to Russ' Winkler in the Stocks as Chris Taylor came up with a third to make it a three-place "Meanie Greenie" sweep. • Results 500cc INT: 1.
