The stan of the fint moto saw a wheel-to-wheel duel for the lead between Byron Raney and Gregg Bayer, both Honda-mounted. Behind them cam.e a field of angry. charging machines and racen. Out of a moto full of surprises, came Webb into a bid for the lead. Taking command, he left Raney to fight off Bayer, Todd Binns and An Olivier. When the finish line loomed into sight, Webb led the way with Olivier in second and Raney holding down third. The second time out it was a duel to the end between Webb in the lead and Olivier riding shotgUn. An incredible duel down to the wire with the two racen, tangling handleban and scraping each other's wheels aU over the track. Olivier slipped by and Webb, holding back, made a lurch for the lead over a jump and eased on into a five bikelength lead. Bayer in third, held back the traffic and defended his position. When the checkered flag signaled an end to the madness, it was Webb who emerged for top bonon, Olivier picked off a superb l!-l! ride and third overall went to Bayer. Jaclt Greenberg, astride a Honda, emerged out of the U5cc Intermediate contest with the overall win. The fint time off the line, Greenberg grabbed the holeshot only to fmd the race red·flagged with a rider down in the far end of the track. In tile TeStan it was Mike Woolfe, piloting a Yamaha out in front and setting up a superb ride for himself with Jim Boyd, Jim ConnoUy and Greenberg running second, third and founh iespectively. Woolfe simply let them fight their own battle and pulled a beautiful lead. Andy Neli~r in fifth. was bockinJt on the back door pushing re\entJeWy. down to the end. At the finish line Woolfe zoomed aCl'Ollll, leaving Greenberg in second and ConnoUy third. When the machines roared to life for the second time, it was Greenberg leading all the way and holding Nelinger to second and Boyd to third. A bad break for Woolfe. DOW back in seventh and ftghting to ~ back to the top. A heavy duel went down between Greenberg and Nelinger with DO relief in sight. When the checkered flag came out Greenberg eased aCl'Ollll the line, just inches ahead of Ndinger and Connolly finished a solid third. Nelinger ended the day with second overall and third went to Connolly. The fint combined Pro moto saw 1l!5cc Pro Larry Baker pull the lead for his division with Todd BJ"OU8U'CI running second and Bryon Jordan in third. Baker found himself c ~ by l!5Occ Pro Jim Coffey for the ~ as these two tackled the berms wheel to wheel. The two men continued their duel down to the wire with Baker taking the win for the 1l!5cc divilIion and Matt Whiting, after burning a streak around the track. moved by Coffey for the l!5Occ division win. For the Open Pros. it was Steve Hutchens. aboard a Yamaha who ruled the day. throughout both motOll, holding Mark Nation to second and Emery Woolsey, aboard a Kawasaki in third. The second moto saw Hutchens out in front with Whiting on his tail folloWed by Joe Bray, Andy MeszarOll and Coffey. Whiting was pushing Hutchens to the limit and seeing his chance, charged on by, setting up a beautiful lead. Coffey was smoking! He took over second and was out to catch Whiting when he suddenly slowed and pulled over; beset with mechanicals and forced to DNF. When the finish line came into sight, Whiting was there for the l!5Occ Pro win, Gary Reichenbach took second overall and third went to Andrew Graham. In the Open Pros the day belonged to Steve Hutchens and in the ll!5cc Pros, Baker fmished the day with a grand slam, Broussard CJ'OlIRd over to second place loot and third overall went to Jordan. • Results eo NOV: 1.
