Ce.lI'al Pipe1iDe eG~~@G~\l~~ for off-road ~. ~ When the intense day of racing had ended, Kyle Landrum, Dan Conway and Tim Wagner were on top of the action-filled Expert classes. Open Expert Tim "Throttle Jockey" Wagner (Yam) took his big bore YZ to consecutive moto victories after early leader Steve Mulholland (Yam) suf· fered tranny troubles that resulted in a slowing second in round one and a seventh in round two. Wagner really had the gas on with Delbert McDonald (Suz) taking second place honors ahead of Houstonian Kenny Pavlica (Mai) who came back for third in round two. Pete Perry (Suz) proved he's no push-over as he gassed his self-sponsored RM to top bonors in the Over ~ class. Perry pushed himself and his bike to the limit as he came from behind to win. O.B. Shelburne (Yam) put to· gether a pair of quick and consistent rides for second with third place honors going to "East Texas Flash" Mike Franks (Kaw). Fourth in the over-the-hill gang was Tony Schenz (Mai) with a 3-5 effort as early lead Robbie Holbert (Kaw) "soil sampled" his way to fifth on the well-prepared course at Lake Whitney. Event number eight was quick to follow and the word quick describes how the 125cc Experts moved dirt at Whitney. Leading the charge to the first turn in each moto was Chuck "The Hulk" Dawson (Yam). In his first year as an Expert, Dawson is quickly proving he is one of the many rising stars in north Texas motocross. Young Dawson finished the fine day of racing third in the fast lane of the overall column behind Kyle Landrum (Hon) and "Flyin' Bryan" Taylor (Hon) who sha red moto victories. Round one ended with Landrum laking his "red rocket" to victory after slipping by Dawson, who ended up third behind Randy "Fluid Form" Sullivan (Hon). whose Expert experience paid off in round one, with Taylor coming back for a brilliant fourth after a Texas turf test . (n round two, Taylor was breathing fire as he dusted his competitions' plow after overcoming another Dawson holeshot. Round two ended quickly with Taylor holding off overall winner Landrum. Mike Clement (Yam) who charged back for third, Dawson, Terry Thomas (Yam) and Sullivan. Overall it was Landrum, Taylor, Dawson, Clement, Sullivan and Thomas. One of the most exciting classses of the day was the 125cc Intermediate which at the day's end had "Movin' On" Mike Brown (Suz) at the head of the class. Brown moved to the head of the class early as "Killer" Carroll Richardson (Yam) knifed his way through the field. In a battle that climaxed on the final lap, Brown held on fOT a well deserved win with Richardson a proud second as early threats Greg BakeT (Hon) and Jim Vaughn (Kaw) finished in third and fourth in the second moto as well as the overall column. "Dynamite" Dan Conway (Hon) blitzed the field of 250cc Experts as he piloted his "red rocket" to victory in each round. Conway was flying low as he made winning in the Expen ranks look easy with Ricky Glaser (Yam) pursuing for second overall. Steve Mulholland (Yam) was third, after some tough luck in Open Expen competition. Mulholland came back in fine form ahead of Micky Pizzitola (Hon) who was the victim of a close encounter that held him to a sixth in round two and fourth overall. Results TEENV -MINI: ,.
