Motocross Enterprises. jon Nelson led
the first gate until lap two when he
went down opening the way for Andy
Segale. Doug Lawrence (Super Seer)
pressed Segale in every turn. finally
getting his break by using an inside
line to move in front.
Tom Kelly (Hus) worked from the
back. picking off riders with each lap.
Once by Segale, he charged after Law·
rence. The trio ran tight with Segale
gaining momentum after passing
Kelly, then Lawrence and stretching it
out to the flag. Lawrence and Kelly
swapped second, with Lawrence going
off the track and falling back to seventh.
Oliver quietly worked his way up. slip·
ping in to finish third with Nelson
fourth.
Kelly holeshot the second round
with Segale and Oliver close behind.
After a few laps, it was Kelly defending
Oliver with Segale fading back in third.
Oliver jumped to the inside of a turn
for the lead and opened up for a while,
but in the later laps, Kolly closed in
keeping the heat on to the wire. Mark
Nation brought in fourth behind
Segale.
It was back· to· back wins for the
white Yamaha of R&L Racings' Ron·
nie Lewis in 500ccjunior. Tim Conner
and Kevin McDonel battled in second
during the first round with Conner
dropping out putting Fred Hudgens
(Hus) in third behind McDonel.
Lewis took unchallenged command
of the second gate as Douglas Hudson
defended second from McDanel. The
Team Twinkie Maico of Kent Reborn
passed Rick Tucker and then closed in
to keep the heat on McDanel who was
running free in second after Hudson
went down. Hudgens finished fourth
for third overall.
A !l-2 finish gave Mike Pryor the
I25cc junior overall. Matt Tasos took
the holeshot in the first round, but ran
into trouble by the second lap. falling
to the back. james Reynolds took over
and was in a tight battle with Guy
Childs when he went down, falling in
behind Tasos. Childs then built a
strong lead to the finish with SCOIt
Jeffers, Pryor and Tim Winslow next
in line.
The second time, Reynolds took it
to the wire. Childs went down after the
start. placing him way back. Byron
Polin, Pryor and Jeffers engaged in
ballie for second. Pryor maneuvered
his way by Polin with jeffers following
suit and they both charged after
Reynolds. Polin pulled off with bike
trouble putting Rick York and Winslow
in for fourth and fifth.
