National Champion Craig Howard (Birkle Yam) took both wins in the 80 and 100cc Expert races. National Champion Steve Hill (Target Sales/NO Plugs/Castrol) took the runner up spot both races to end his days on the Minis. Hill starts up north on the big bikes next week. Blayne Hollenbeck (Sumners Suzuki/Foster Freeze) took third both races. Jim Taves (Yam) took the 200cc Expert go followed by Kelly Dennison (Dennison Painting Yam) who came from a bad stan to grab a well deserved second. Rickey Hollenbeck (Sumners Suzuki/FOSler Freeze) won th 250cc Expert race over Dennis Rndriques (Yarn). John Burnett (Yam) had an easy win in the 500cc Expert run over Brian Yocum and Tom Bowles (Yam). Jim Keener (Keener's Harley-Davidson) took the Open Expen with Tommy McKinney getting close in the comers, but outpowered on the straighu. Carol Jackson (Tri) followed them home for third. Tonight's races were-saddened by an accident in the 250cc Expert race. National Number One Chad Betten· court was injured serioualy as he fell very hard in tbe third tum ~ng for fint. Key spilt new Locii Cyde Bowl ST wi.. wins. but it was once again Kurt Chandler the 80cc Expen victor on the Kawasaki of Salinas KX. Chris took second over Winltie Freitas on a new HondaCR8O. Curt Wilkins won the 125cc Novice race with relative ease and Brian Pedro took the Junior post as well . Former Mini Black Plater Aaron Hill has graduated to the 250cc Novice set at age 13, part of the new 1980 rule and looks very good on a Suzuki TM250 much like Pat Hennen did in his early days. Aaron won over Brian Sansing. Mike Bird came off the Sonora Hill to win 250cc Junior on dad's Champion Honda with Jamie Mason sliding in for second on the Modesto Harley·Davidson and Chad Felicio third bn his new KX250 green meanie. Teddy Davidson got the jump on the rest of the 250cc Expert field riding the Blu·Arc Distributing H·D and only had to contend with Doug Chandler, Billy Scott and Mark Key along with Dave Boyles for the 10 lap duration. Doug's KX250 is currently the hottest thing on two wheels and it was the end of the first lap when Doug went for the set and pass line. Only thing was Billy Scott forgot about the first comer and must have though he was at Ascot on the halfmile when he threw his S &: S Yamaha on the ground knowing full well he wasn't going to make the comer. The bike hit so hard it bounced up. into and .over Chandler. taking the two of them out of competition. Teddy was long gone by the time Key and Boyles got around the pile of machines and Key and Boyles settled for the rest of the trophies. Mike Swartz had it easy in the 360cc Junior class while Dave Painter won 500cc Novice over Mike Brady. Marvin Lewis has graduated from that class but is still winning, this time in 500cc Junior and over Debbie Rocha on the Mallot's Honda XR500. In the 500cc Expert main, it was Key on the McGill TT500 with a lot of chasing by Doug Chandler. Results 86 NOli: 1. D8vid Schutz tY8lTI): 2. Tod Tllytor (Yoml. 86 JR: 1. Roger F _ (~); 2.
