GARDENA . CA. JULY 25
The rider participation is up at
Ascot Park. Everyone really likes
the new trackside arrangement.
And , because the trucks and vans
are lined up against the crash wall , the
grandstands are now p acked with
people who are ab le to get a good view
of all the track.
Terry Woody usually takes his
Suzuki to one of the top three places in
the Min i Junior class. He entered the
division two race tonight and found
some good solid competition from
John Davis. Woody got the best of th e
pack in the first moto and Davis had to
follow while Craig Gardner was in
third. Davis step ped on it in the fin al
moto and aced out Woody who ended
up in third because Troy McFarland
got in between thos e two . W ith a 2·1
score Davis won the first overall trophy
ahead of Woody, Brock Suter and
McFarland.
After the race several of the 100cc
class riders came over and requested a
write-up. This class is usually small
With about five riders engaged in the
a ction . Tonight th ere were fou r people
going for it and a good tight battle was
seen . There was a lot of handlebar to
handlebar racing between leaders
Con n ie Li vingston and Mi ch ae l
Buchanan. These two are arch rivals
and bo th live in Los Angeles . Lonnie
got the advantage in both motes and
took first overall . Bu chanan was
second ahead of Brad Kelly and B.VI
Jawitz.
.
Darrell Russell is starting to set
himself apart from the rest of the
~50cc Junior class and took the overall
win in the first division. Kevin Brown
gave him trouble and won the first
moto but R ussell won the deciding
second moto, On the official results it
was Russel , Brown , Dean Manley and
RonSpinak.
