to talce Ascot since 1963.
.
It isn't every day that a 500cc single takes
on the big 750 twins and wins. At Ascot it hasn't
happened since Dick Mann did it on a Matchless
17years ago. .
But that's what U.S. Army/Dallas-Ft. Worth
Honda sponsored Mike Kidd did as he took the
Winston Pro-National on his Honda XR500
powered TT machine.
And hot on Mike's tail was Team
Honda's Mickey Fay who charged from
a 16th position start to grab second
on his XR500. Team Honda's Jeff
Haney finished a strong sixth on a
racer powered by, you guessed it,
an XR500.
And just so the 5OO's wouldn't
grab all the glory, Texan Bill Hendron
won the Friday night novice half miler
on a Team Honda CR250R powered
dirt tracker.
All of which goes to show you
what happens in racing when Honda
gets serious.
