The overall then went to Brownlee. Dawson and Todd Snider (H on) at 4-5 . Stackable , Cra ig R iddle (H us) and the rest of the 250cc Experts ate sand as Tom Curry (Hon) beat them to the first turn . In the next insta nt after the tum , Stackable was in front , R id d le in the middle and Curry in third as Doug Paley (H on) sat out in the sandy first tum . As they ca me around after one complete lap, Stackable led while Riddle sh adowed Curry and David Jones (Suz) pushed hard in fourth . Stack's electrical problems seemed to come ba ck as he couldn't pull awa y from traffic. Only at full throttle did he have the power he wan ted. Riddle rode on Stackable's back fender until lap three wh en he passed the "Stac k" and put a one second cushion on his lead . Ridd le was doing some dazzling rid ing, considering this was only his third Expert race . Meanwhile , Jones had moved into third a head of Curry when Stackable once again grabbed the lead at m id moto. Jones wh ittled awa y a several second lea d and was about to move in on Riddle wh en he wash ed out in a tu rn as he tried to ge t back in to the fast inside groove. He kept th ird but lost some precious time . A lot of pressure came off Stackable and Jones as the new supercross jump claimed a victim. The win went to Stackable , but Jones was closing fast as they took the chec ke red flag . Curry copped third and T im Smith (Yam) and Da vid Mootz (Hon) followed him home . T im Smith and Doug Paley got the holeshot off th e second start as Stacka ble hopped off the gate sid eways and spent the distance of the straightaway swap ping sides and getting the PDQ Yamaha pointed in the righ t direction. Once pointed down the track, Stacka ble too k charge quickly and led every lap to the finish . Once again , Jones was his closest com petition, but several seconds separated Jon es from th e winner at th e fini sh . T he rest of th e top five in moto two bel onge d to Curry , Smith and Pa ley. The overalls were relatively easy to com pu te as Stackable won (I-I ), follow ed by Jon es (2 ·2 ), Curry (3 -3) , Smith (4-4) and Pal ey (7·5) . . Wit h the 500cc N ati onals less than a month away, Stack able wanted to warm up for th e seaso n by rid ing well in the Open Expert class . With Riddle a nd Stackable both riding th e Open class on 465s as well as th e 250s , every· one looked for a possible repeat of th e first mot o 250cc Expert battle. As expected , Stackable took an ea rly lead in the first Open moto with Rid d le riding second. T he great war neve r materialized , however, as Stacka ble outdistanced everyone , Rid d le rod e a steady ra ce holding off Maico-rnounted Adam Cox and Kennie McGraw (Yam ) to the finish . The second moto proved to be a perfect repli ca of moto one . The finish ing order was the same and th e overalls were awarded in the same order. Stackable took four moto wins tod ay, but we better watch for Riddle in th e future. Adding a touch of class to the motocross scene. Eddy Salad got a ri de to the starting gate in a high-dollar Rolls Royce. Included in the ride was a cha u ffeur and a doorman (door lady) e to open his door.
