Agajaliian was on hand for the flTSt time this year, and so was Gary Scott who adds the touch of class where ever he rides. john Wincewicz let fast time (22.70), won the fmt and fastest Expen heat, the trophy dash and took second place in the rousing main. End of lap one'in that first heat it was Wayne Rainey, Tom Berry, Wincewicz, Bobby Sanders and Ricky Resweber. Wincewiz kept moving and passing, and flying down the back straight,. emerged first. Rainey finished a close second, then Berry, Resweber, and Bill Crabbe who had made it by Bobby Sanders.. Second heat it was Ted Davidson and Gary Scott into the south tum first; going inside and outside each othe.r, with Davidson exiting tum two first. They shuffied first place around for awhile to the stands' delight, with Ted getting the final hold on it. Third place was settled the same way between Dave Busby and Oklahoman David Jones, until Jones put some space between himself and Busby. There were four transfers open from the semi and they all rode accordingly. Bobby Sanders arrived in tum one first after one of his famous stam, but Ricky Resweber was right with him and they walued around each other for awhile with Busby and Crabbe right with them. The lead changed a good 8·9 times as Crabbe got Resweber. Resweber later caught a foot in the south tum and Crabbe was quick to take advantage. Marty Halkola took away the final transfer from Dave Busby. T-he trophy dash line-up was Wincewicz, Rainey, Scott and first alternate Resweber, taking Davidson's declined spot. At the end of lap one it w'as Scott, Resweber, Rainey and Wincewicz. Scott went too high on the south turn and Wincewicz, with a big handful of throttle, went impressively from fourth to first and won himself the KRW helmet. There were 10 lead changes in the main and did Rainey ever deserve his win - he knew it too, and his grin endangered his ears afterwards. Rainey and Davidson arrived in the south tum 'first, then Wincewicz, Resweber, Scott and Tom Berry. Scott pulled out early with the bike not right, but we doubt if anybody could have bested the two riders up front. It was Rainey and Davidson swapping spots for a while with Wincewicz right on their heels. John caught his foot once but Resweber couldn't quite take full advantage of that bobble. Tom Berry was looking good but had problems with his Triumph's cub coming adrift, dropping him off the pace as he fiddled with it. When it caught again for him, he minded his track manners and stayed off the groove when lapped - he got fined for failing to yield earlier this year. Behind the front group David Jones and Bill Crabbe soned out founh and fifth between them, and up front, Rainey was still running with the lead. He got ahead a bit then Davidson started pulling it down and gaining, only to lose control of the front end on that infamous spot exiting tum two and drop it. Rainey stormed on for the win, followed by Wincewicz, Resweber and Jones. Earlier that evening the Novices and Juniors were just as great. Transfering from the first Junior heat were Steve Oon, Steve Pobon and Dennis Camp. Second heat, Jeff Allison, Arlette Smith and Danny Perkins went through lap one in a group, but had to restan because Dave Ryan fell. The same group got out front again, but Smith caught her foot a bit later, losing her spot in the front group, and Rich Arnaiz shot right up there after Allison's front place. He got it too, but it was three abreast racing down the straights at times between him, Danny Perkins and Allilon. Allison wasn't too smooth and Danny got away from them both, tearing for the fmiah flag With Jeff and Rich coming across just about even. The scorers tabbed Arnaiz second and Allison third in that whoopee finish. Arlette Smith was more than ready for the Setni, and wor~ed her way up hehind front runners Wyatt Scroggins, Eddie San Roman, Brian Haycock and Rod Sullivan. Haycock had to drop out, and Sal Hoffman settled into third, with Smith founb in the final transfer spot. She wouldn't settle for founb and went for it in the nonb tum, only to overslide, pull it down and end up going inside the white line and the tires coming out the tum and
