And it was Spencer and Cooley who
provided the fireworks all around the

first nine laps. Honda-mounted Spencer and Suzuki-mounted Cooley
sw;'pped the lead constantly until
Cooley retired on the ninth lap when
his bike's motor dropped a valve.
