followrd by Wn Blair shot out of thr
holr in thr 250cc Juniors with Blair
soon to pass Burdrn and thrn takr
ovrr first on thr third lap. Jim Grorgr.
having fallen on thr stan, workrd his
way back up to fmish srcond and
Guttrrud third. Thr ovrrall was Blair,
Guttrrud and Grorgr.
Carolos Srrrano won thr first moto
of thr 250cc Experts with Gary Dircks
srcond and David King third.
Srrrano snatchrd thr Irad from
King on thr srcond tum of thr srcond
moto with Gary Dircks in hot pursuit.
Srrrano went down and King went
ovrr him giving Dircks thr Irad which
hr hdd to thr finish with Rogrr Jonn
srcond and Ron Watmorr third.

southern California monsoon season as the riders came out to enjoy thr summrr Iikr wrathrr. But both

for thr stan of thr Open Pro class.
Grtting thr first moto holnhot was
Bill Koch of Rockrt Ra Entrrprisrs,
but right on his tail wu Hadlry followrd by Lowr and his big Honda XR·
500. Thr thrrr of thrm quickly srparatrd thrmsrlvrs from thr ret of thr
pack and rngagrd in a privatr thrrr·
way dur!. For ninr laps thry rrmainrd
in that ordrr with no onr ablr to brrak
frrr of thr othrr two, but then Lowr
was thr first to brralr. thr Italrmatr. Hr
shot by Hadlry, and then took thr Irad
from Koch two laps latrr. Hadlry followrd suit by passing Koch on thr nat
lap and quickly catching back up to
Lowr. Thry sprnt thr last frw minute
of thr moto in dosr quanrra and it was
at thr rnd of thr vrry lut lap that
Hadlry madr his final dfon at rrpassing Lowr and took thr win.
In thr nat round Lowr camr back
and took thr win and thr overall aftrr
lrading rvrry lap. Hadlry rrmainrd in
third for two laps, but passed Koch
and then movrd up on Lowe. Lowr
hrld out, though, and took thr win
ovrr Hadlry, Koch, Johonn Strinrr
(Mai), and Strvr Richard (Yam).
Thr 125cc Pro daIS was by no
mrans as dOR a racr. Evrry lap of
hoth motoll saw Craig Gormlry (Yam)
on top and pulling away. Srcond
placr, howrver, was up for srabs hrtwren Mark Bamn (Yam), Brent
Blount (Yam) and Varney Holbrook
