What's the matter with the numbers
used now? It wouldn't look like Jorgy
without the same configuration 44
that we have all come to recognize. It
wouldn't look like Corky without his
stylish 62. What's nellt. ..everyone
having to wear the same color
leathers?
Seems to me the AMA should either
spend some time working on the
problems racing and motorcycling in
!teneraJ already has, or find a bobby,
Instead of wasting their time (and our
money) making useless and stupid new
rules.

America's only weekly

The rationale behind the rule way isn't new for 1980;
enforced - is to solve a
sconng problem, George. .4nd i/
applies particularly to motocross
where n'ders have three-digit numbers
that are partly obscured by their Legs
or oftentimes by mud. (.4s a race
reporter, I've tried to read these
, numbers under adverse conditions and
can
easily
understand
the
scorekeepers' problem.) .4MA's intent
is not to standardize rider appearance
or make them look alike, but in fact to
from
help
distinguish
one
another.. .Editor.
