horrendously up with its guard cover. It took a couple of laps to struggle it free and McKeever scored 23rd. Berkeley White was clearly the moto two winner, pulling steadily away from the others throughout. Unfonunately, he had to put it together with a 14th in moto one that he had earned by crashing rwice. Perhaps crashing helped a11ay any residual apprehension about his recently mended collar bone - his collar bone could take it, his "unbreakable" levers couldn't. The 250cc Novices raced two exciting motos. In the first, Joe Augello took the holeshot and led for most of three laps until Dennis Ambrecht got out in front to stay. Augello's next worry was Nick Bishop, who hadn't raced since August. He was eager enough, but crashed trying to pass. Bishop remounted in time to retain his position. In the second moto Dennis Ambrecht clinched his first overall and Augello managed to nail a third which yielded him second overall. Augello claimed that it wasn't a flashy crossup that put him hard onto the ground over the jump; he was realigning his bike in mid-air for a better approach to the next comer. Usually it worked, he said. The Open Intermediates staged one of those wonderful races in which most of the riders are both fast and fairly evenly matched. It really made them boogiel Rumor had it that this was Brian Manly's first race in three years, yet he came from behind to seriously challenge the leaders and collect the second place trophy. After many changes in moto one, Colin Mcdonald finished third, the front wheel in a practically unscorable group of four that flashed past the checkered flag en masse. Results MINI 5OoIllOs: 1.
