FRIDAY NilE - WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SPEEDWAY QUALIFIER
By Tom Corley

..c
America's last World Speedway Champ was Jack Milne. In 1936 Jack is back to give ATe',cas
Speedway Racers a boost.
"Because we want to see on American on top of the Worlo
Championship In Gottenberg, Sweden next year l'
Marcell takes
OCIR Mini vIctory
th~ track over the weekend and they
really did a fantastic job. Everyone was
told beforehand to watch out becau~
the jumps w~r~ just not the same. But
wh~n th~ rid~rs hit the track they
found out that it was no joke.
Ev~ryo~ ended up flying into the
air like n~ver before at this track.
Tonight Southland Cycle of Garden
Grove got into the act and th~ fine
people were giving gift certificates
away to ~v~ral winning riders.
Most Minicycle riders were g~tting
ready for the big NMA Fall Nationals
race at Saddl~back, yet quite a few
rid~rs wer~ ~en in th~ Mini races
tonight. Out of th~ combined four
class rac~, Taylor Marcell on a
Kawasaki out· rode the other littl~
riders. Taylor claimed two first place
wins, clean and easy over several other
all green Kawasaki riders like Gary
Yorba and weekly regular Chris Sparks.
Huff Hadley is usually found rac·
ing at Saddleback on any given Sun·
day and now is really turning on to
this Thursday night program. He
credits Wheelsmith Motorcycles for
helping him keep his Maico in the
competition. Huff destroyed the very
competitive 250 Pro class and did it by
"Winning both motos. Todd Simmons
from Anaheim Suzuki hooked a couple
of third place finishes which gave him
the second ov~rall ·money award.
Duan~ Mapes of Moto Meister cranked
his Maico to a third place win over
Mark Denning and Marc Crosby who
fought it out v~ry closely.
Doug Dubach is most always a sure
bet to win in th~ I25cc Pro class each
week. Dubach captured th~ first place
win in each moto and he avoid~d a lot
of the struggling. In th~ second moto a
coupl~ of riders had trouble on th~
special section of jumps. Tim Hines of
Premier Yamaha was doing well till he
got out of control and then Chris
Morey of R&D Racing Engines
crashed right into him. Both riders
picked up their bikes and resumed
racing without any problems. Morey
managed two ~conds ahead of
Riverside Suzuki racer Randy Adams
and Tim Hines.
