Reisinger rips atSSMMX By Terry Whytal ORANGE, CA, OCT. 13 Kawasaki rider Robert Reisinger showed the 250cc Pros the fast way around the Saddleback track this week. Excellent preparation by track crews left tbe course in excellent condition with large monorail berms and good traction. Reisinger took advantage of both to sweep both motos and take the big purse of the day. Reisinger had plenty of competiton from riden like Can-Am-mounted Pete Snorteland and Yamacrosser Bill Gillerman. Tony Gomez had his Suzuki ready for action and Matt Devich brought his Kawasaki to the line with new found confidence. When the gate dropped Reisinger jumped into the lead followed by GiDe-rman, Jjm Beckers (Hon) and Greg Weaver (Mai). At the end of lap one Devich was in sixth behind Honda rider Darryl Willoughby, Snoneland was back in eighth, and Gomez was 10th. Snorteland quickly got on the gas to move up on Devich's tail and pass on the third lap. Devich hung on and repassed the next time around. Beckers and Weaver faded off the pace while Willoughby challenged Gillerman for second and Reisinger kept cool in front. Willoughby got around Gillerman, and Devieh and Snorteland soon followed. Devich fell hard, losing a lap to the leaders and Willoughby DNF the next lap, moving Snorteland into second behind the long gone Reisinger. As the checkered flag came out Reisinger had a secure win over Snorteland and third place Yamaha rider Rick Malti, up from a bad start. Reisinger held the gas on through the first turn to emerge with the second moto lead over Snorteland and Devich. Clint Hardick had his Honda in fourth ahead of Maico rider Tibor Papp. Reisinger made it clear that be wanted the win and began to immediately open up a lead, althougb Snorteland struggled furiously to stay close. Maki moved up to take fourth away from Hardick. Hardick stayed with him and regained the position three laps later. The leading three were about evenly spaced at 10 second intervals until suddenly Reisinger went down, allowing Snorteland to take the lead. Reisinger was up quickly, and closed in on Snorteland and began to exert a heavy dose of pressure. Snorteland was riding like the devil was behind as he held off Reisinger for several laps before the Kawasaki rider passed. At the fi nish it was Reisinger, followed by Snorteland, Devich, Hardick and Maki. Reisinger was the overall winner with second going to
