Ogden and Tripes diced until Tripes' bike lost second gear. That put Balter into third, followed by Gregg Gibboney (YOR Yam) and Fuller. CONGRATIATES Results OPEN PRO: 1. Pete Wanl o Z New Pee Wee track at DeAnza By Ron Lawson SUNNYMEAD, CA, OCT. 14 DeAnza Cycle Park manager Doug Hall greeted the pint-sized Pee Wee warm-shoes with an entirely new track of their very STEVE mUND #1 own last week. Up until now the Pee Wees have been racing on a traclt that ran half way up the normal start chute and then turned around and came back down, malting a course about 400 feet around. But the new set up is longer, safer and more fun for the youngsters. Winning the 50cc auto clutch division this week was Kimberly Robenson on her JR 50. In both motos Wesley Klein followed her across the line. In the division for 50cc machines with manual clutches, Sean Gasper (Hon) topped Jason Allingham while Tiffany Parker won the over 51cc class. The big guys in the Mini class saw Leonard Robertsdn (Suz) walk away with both rounds while Todd Parker (Suz) scored a second. Mike Thompson (Kaw) rounded out the top three in the novice class while Kevin Canada (Kaw) took the beginners over Mark Cumming (Yam) and Eric Fraser (Yam). Pro racing saw Craig Gonnley on a borrowed Kawasaki leading every lap of both 250 races. In round one, Huff Hadley hounded him for one lap, but then Hadley and his Maico parted company and dropped out of the race. From there it was another Maico rider, Darryl Lumbattis, that gave Gormley a run but halfway through the race his pipe came out of its socket and the bike loaded up. That left Don Griewe (Kaw) in second and Keith Brajevich, also on a Kaw, in fourth. The only Maico rider left to break the string of green was Greg Zitterkopf who held down third the rest of the way through the race. Gormley finished with a good lead and when he showed up for the next race he was determined to do it again. The holeshot was his and so was the rest of the race. Zitterkopf had a hard time getting it together in the early part of the 'race, but halfway through he put in a drive that got him within striking distance of the leader. His pace was a little on the hairy side, however, and in the final laps he decided it would be wiser to settle for second place than risk going down. Third in the final round went to (Continued to page 26) ~II National C~a • •• MARIO lANDm and Ille crellballade ilall Dosslle Photo: DAN MAHONEY B_-CASTRlIC.
