They all put on an interesting show but finished in that order. The mighty Minis found John Burr's Bill Clontz out front with a tremendous lead before going out with a broken shock. Frampton rocks to Old TImers MX win By Bob Alloy ORANGE, CA, SEPT. 23 The turnout at Saddleback was incredible. There wasn't a parking place to be found in the whole pit area. Fifteen races and as many as 50 riders on the line for one' event makes for lots of excitement. There were 43 Old Times on the line for practice and much to our surprise there had been some track changes made. This must have accounted for the many pile-ups and spills in practice. Getting things underway and looking really terrific was Jim Beltinck of the Masters division. Be.ltindt just ran away from all the competition. Even taking time out to. try and assist Blackie Lewis with a disabled bike didn't upset his lead at all. He managed all of this and took both motos. "Movin' Marv" Olsen, having just returned from participating in races up in Oregon, placed second in both motos. Blackie Lewis, despite problems in moto one managed to come in third and Blackie repeated that placing in the second moto. Marshall Jennings has three broken toes on his right foot, but what else do you do when you're wearing a cast but get in there and take another chance. Marshall, cast and all came in fourth. Great style there, Marshalll The Expert division began with Joe Bray taking the lead and holding it for two laps. Taking the lead from Joe-was Chuck Woody, who held on until right up to the end. Dick Frampton followed Chuck in for second. Bray a recent graduate to Experts, came in third, followed by Ray Sanchez. Moto two wasn't quite as lucky for Woody as the first was: his rear bralte rod broke loose. This by no means cancelled Woody out immediately. He kept up his lead right to the very last lap, before going down. Frampton took over and placed first .. Bob Crandall took second place honors. Following Mike "Sizzlin' Six" Sixbery won the SRA 250cc class. took second and our president Dan Harris took third place. Moto two began as the first with Anderson taking the lead. Unfortunately Bob's bike developed problems and forced Bob out of the lead. The lead was assumed by Davis who had been on Bob's rear fender, and Davis came in first. Harris placed second and of course, Klatt had to be in there with the winners, scoring a nice third place. Crandall were Sanchez and Bray. George Spearing came off the line first in the Amateur division. However Asker Lamlr.jaer was out to change things a bit and he did this by taking the lead and the win. George was there for second and Lowell Smith came in third. Moto two again began with Spearing taking the lead only this time he didn't relinquish it. He held fast to the finish. Lamlr.jaer was then second place and Jim Cooke was the third place winner. Bob Anderson took the Novice holeshot and led for two laps. Then James Davis, riding a Yamaha, took command and kept on gassing it to cross the finish first. Bob Klatt (Hus) Wheels of Results • MASTERS: 1. Jim 8eIlindt IMail; 2. Morvin a-, IMai). EXPeRTS: 1.
