upset Scott Davis' stranglehold on the
125cc Expert class.
But on the third lap disaster
struck. Wolverton collided with
another rider which caused him to
crash and Sandstrom moved into the
lead. Wolverton was up and in pursuit
almost immediately. within striking
range of Sandstrom on the final lap.
The crowd that had gathered around
the finish line moved back. expecting
the two riders to come careening
across the line in a last second pass
attempt by Wolverton. However.
when the two riders came into sight
Sandstrom still had enough of a
comfortable lead to take the win.
leaving a .very disappointed Jeff
Wolverton in second place for the day
and for the series.
Scott Davis had managed to rack up
enough fini$hing points during the
weekend to give him the Alaska State
Championship in the 125cc Expert
class once agam.
