Fun show at San Bernardino By Dennis Greene SAN BERNARDINO, CA, AUG. 15 Bicycle motocross, frisbee-catching dogs, and speedway. Put them all together and you have a long super-fun night at Inland Motorcycle Speedway. 20 Talk about a grand entrance, the kids on their bicycles came on the track by jumping them over the fourfoot high crash wall. A running stan in the pit area and steep ramps gave them the lift to clear the wall to a standing-room-only crowd, who received them with some of the loudest cheering ever. They put on a shon race, beating some of the regular speedway riders, who they loaned bikes to. Rounding out the halftime show were the dogs, some of which have been on national TV catching frisbees. More fun. The speedway show was outstanding, with Keith Larsen winning the Handicap Main Event. Earlier in the night, Alan Christian got off hard and at first it looked as if he had broken his right arm and with the National title over a month away, that would be hard to take. Alan is the top gun in that shoot-out and many say he will take the title from Bast. As it turned out, Alan took the rest of the week off with just a badly bruised and sprained arm. .1JJe Cllnrnl..champ,. Mike.Bast, is still the man to beat and no one could do it in the Scratch Main Event, and Scratch racing is what it's aU about. Jim Fishback ran second in that main event and he should score big in October. Division Two honors went to Keith Chrisco, who is working on a new riding style that seems to work just fine for him. Rounding out a good night of competition, Eddie Lynch, from the 10-yard line, won the Division Three Main Event. Newcomer Hutchison scores at Ascot By Dennis Greene GARDENA, CA, AUG. 16 Good thinking: If you've got to ride a track in the all-important qualifiers and you have not been there before, you should try to get as much practice there as possible. This past week, Glenn Hutchinson, one of the better riders from nonhern California, has been riding on the tracks in the Southland getting ready for next week's four nights of qualifying. Glenn found the quick way around the Ascot quarter-mile track, winning the Handicap Main Event with Dave DeTemple right on his tail. Besides being a good rider, he puts on quite a show at trophy time - X-rated, no photos! Six working on sewn for_ Mike Bast,
