with plenty of good competition. Mark
Barnes got the jump on the pack and
claimed the first place position over
Juan Benavidez while Lunde came
throught in third. In the second mota
Lunde showed his supremacy as he
gassed his Yamaha out ahead and led
by a longshot. Craig Gormley was
holding down second while Benavidez
tried desperately to pass and ended up
falling so Barnes took third. When the
money was handed out Lunde won
because of a fine 3-1 score. Barnes
earned the second place award over
Gormley,
Dave
Hamada
and
Benavidez.
Now let's shift our attention over to
the little guys. The Mini classes have
been very strong and it's good to see
such a good turnout in the Mini 50cc,
Junior, Intermediate and Expert
classes. The hotshot on the track this
time was RichaI:d Sands. He won the
Expert class and showed off with his
stylish leaps off of the main jump.
Newton Acevedo led the little Mini
!?Occ riders.

California Racing Club fans took
advantage of a last chance to get
in shape for the upcoming IRC/
CRC Tri Race series by wheeling
!?ut to Racing World for a day of
rugged motocross. Efforts to kee~ the
dust down by watering proved to be of
some help but the 90' sun dried the
dirt like a twisted spounge and riders
found themselves wetting the track
with their own sweat.
Open Pro Craig Adams flew his hot
KTM all the way for a pair of first
place wins. Adams was not only the
first one to see the checkers but for
some time was the only one seeing as
how he got his glimpse a good half lap
before number two rider Mike Said. ]
don't know what Said would have to
say about Adam's KTM shutting down
his fine Maico machine but at least he
wasn't alone as Dave Foltz, also Maicomounted, joined the group of
followers by taking third overall. Foltz
had finished second in the first moto
but had problems in the second,
letting Said command the number two
overall.
Mark Ellis took a ] -I overall win on
his 250cc Yamaha to collect top Pro
pay for his class. Keith Ehlers finished
second behind Ellis in the first race
followed by Ken Ehlers but the Ehlers
pair switched in the second round to
allow Ken second place overall and
Keith with third for third for the day.
Rich "The Red" Barron Yama·
hauled his 125cc Bi· Wing fighter
through the pylons to claim a first
moto 125cc Pro victory over Gary
Scheidler but Scheidler played out the
duel in the second go 'round to even
the final score. Scheidler went home
with the top pay while Barron flew
. away with the second place purse.
Dean Cates went home with the third
fortheday.
