Rhyan roars to CMC Carlsbad win By Mark Kariya • CARLSBAD, CA,jULY 22 Smoothness, consistency and a good measure of luck proved to be the winning combination in the Continental Moto-sports Club's motocross here. In the SOOcc Pros, Steve Rhyan, in one of his first rides aboard a 450 Maico, ran quickly and consistently enough to lead each lap of the first mota. Arden Hadley (Mai) had the handle on second until lap 11 when Chip Howell (Hus) zapped him off the ledge. Chris Chaffee (Yam) and Peter Wanket (Yam) followed them home. Mota two saw Lee Ramage (Mai) muscle his way out of a tightly-bunched first turn to lead the pack for a lap. Rhyan picked it up after that and, learning more about his new mount .with each lap, matched his first mota score for the win. Wanket, wearing a special brace on his much broken leg, rode to a strong second, urged on, no doubt, by members of the Wanket Fan Club. It earned him third overall. Howell got the runner-up with third place ahead of Ramage and Alan These new "Red Dol's" are available in 3;00 x 21. 3;85 x 18, and 4;50 x 18 sizes at your Hi-Point dealer.
