This night marked the third round
of the American Motocross En·
terprises Summer Series. Each
week brings more riders to com·
Winner Arden Hadley 1281 and Hal Strauss 14vllead the 500cc Pro stan at CMC Carlsbad.
The battle of the day came in the
250cc Pro class, as Mark Lawrence
fought with DG/Yamaha Support
rider Tim Locey both rounds before
grabbing the overall. Locey won the
first round with Lawrence in tow, but
Mark .reversed those positions the
second time and won it with Locey,
Pete Snorteland, Don Draskovich and
Scott Morgan behin~.
'A tough 125cc Pro class found
favorite Johnny O'Mara up against
Locey, Mark Moscrop. Jim Pappe.
Kawasaki of Goleta's fast Eddie Perry,
LOP's Mike Brown, and in his first
ride as a Professional, Marl<.
Larnkjaer. O'Mara won the rtrst
round as Locey dropped back to ninth
with problems, and Mike Brown
picked, up second ahead of Pappe,
Mike Gosselaar, Perry, Moscrop and
Larnkjaer. The second round was
Locey's, though, and O'Mara stayed
right behind in second for the overall
win, with Brown in third, Pappe
, founh, Moscrop fifth, 'Perry sixth and
Mark Larnkjaer seventh again.
Overall it went O'Mara, Brown and
Pappe.
