DELAVAN, KS,JULY 1 Barry Holem's year long domination of the 125cc Expert class came to an end today as Tim Schultz emerged victorious after chasing Holem most of the year. Holem won the first mota with reasonable ease but Kurt Johnston took the lead in the second mota ahead of Greg Q.uador and Holem while Wes Kluckner, Frank Royce and a couple other riden piled up. Next lap Schultz moved up to make it a four·-w~y battle for the lead and two laps later h~ and Holem got by. Q.uador. On lap six Johnston stalled his bike and Holem took the lead but Schultz was on Holem's rear fender and really putting on the pressure. On the last lap Holem's bike went sour about 100 yards from the checkered flag; he got off and pushed it across the line for sixth as Schultz took the win. The 125ce Junior show w~ .also a .AMA Minicycle MX qualifier at Wichita By Dick Ains~orth WICHITA. KS,JULY 1 The Wichita Jeeps M/C has a very active schedule on tap for the riders in July. This was the lead·off event, an MX qualifier for AMA Mini·bikers, followed by the AMA National ChaJl)pionship Field Meet on July 7·8, and then an AMAAmateur short track. qualifier on July 14'15. . The gas crunch is taking its toll. though; -the turnout was a bit light even though riden did come from as far away as Texas, Louisiana, Illinois and Nebraska. Everyoae that entered qualified for the AMA National to be held on August 4·5 at Otter Creek Park in Iowa. Fact is, if a few more riden would have shown up. they would have automatically qualified too. And they also would have received one of the large blue and silver trophies with a minicycle-motocross scene incorporated into it. The Jeeps had a total of 50 trophies for the riders. Besides all the minicycles, there were also classes for the lOOce and 125cc motorcycles. The hot rocket from the factory Honda team, "Bu~et Ben" Theriot of Louisiana, turned some super quick times on the well prepared Wichita track. He won the 125cc Schoolboy class a good distance ahead of Texan Steve Howard and Illinois' Tim Bouas. Results 83cc MODe 112 TO 14 YRS.~ 1. Ronnie Wormon lTX); 2. Mert,Kohlenberger IIU; 3.
